Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

Michael Jackson visited the Disney parks often during his life, especially during the early 1980’s.
'I’ve always been a huge fan of Disney. Walt Disney World has been my “other home” since I was a child and still remains a place that I look forward to visiting as often as possible. To me, Walt Disney World totally embodies escapism'.

A drawing of Mickey Mouse by Michael Jackson signed in the top left hand corner. Supplied with coa.

Michael Jackson Signed Drawing Autograph Rare

Michael Jackson Signed Drawing Autograph Rare. Condition is Good. Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class.

Beautiful picture drawn in crayon and signed in crayon By Michael Jackson, picture of his legs doing his famous dance move, use of different colours are used bring alive the movement. Rare collectors piece, I have more in my collection I am looking to sell part of. Please keep an eye out for listings, this item is in relatively good condition for age, I believe it was done by MJ back in 1990. Open to offers.

It's truly shocking to see how the market is being flooded with fake Michael Jackson autographs and items with fake letters of provenance. An avid or long-term collector can spot them a mile away, but what of new collectors just starting out? Where do they turn when even auction houses are being conned and when platforms such as eBay often turn a blind eye?  That's why it's wonderful that this platform exists.

I see Simon Parr's Auctions - now Kristen Leigh Auctions under a new address - continues to take advantage of the gullible through 'artwork' like this: https://www.lot-art.com/auction-lots/MICHAEL-JACKSON-BLOOD-ON-THE-D...  How is it that these same people are able to continue exploiting others, over and over again?

From GWS on 28th March 2020:

1. Michael Jackson Hand Drawn Signed Pluto Sketch

https://connect.invaluable.com/gwsauctionsllc/auction-lot/michael-j...

Description: Michael Jackson Hand Drawn Signed Pluto Sketch W/Letter of Provenance - This sketch was hand drawn and colored by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Among his many other talents such as singing and dancing, Michael Jackson also had impressive art skills, drawing and painting many Disney characters and historical portraits over the years. This drawing depicts Mickey Mouse's dog Pluto, and is signed by Michael Jackson in red ink along with the date "03". The back of the piece also has "Disney 2003" written in matching red ink. According to our seller, this piece was acquired from a fan who attended a Neverland event. Measurements: 4.8"L x 6.75"

This item appears to be an official 2003 reproduction (or an identical copy) of an original Disney sketch for the 1938 cartoon 'Mickey's Parrot'..... Size and colours are the same. (See comparative screen caps).

  2. Also GWS on 280320, this  'Neverland / Peter Pan' Erick, previously seen (with its fake COA) in the 'Erick / Bluelifesaver' thread.

Michael Jackson Signed Drawing Rare Original

I am selling my rare peice from my collection that I originally purchased from a fan in the late 90s. This has been signed by Michael Jackson and its a beautiful example of his signature.  Also a drawing by Michael and im pretty sure this has to be Peter Pan. It is not confirmed that it is Peter Pan but I can not think of anyone else it could be.
Signature signed love Michael Jackson has been writen in black pen with no signs of fading.  The drawing has been done using pencil. And the initials (M.J)  next to the drawing are also in pencil as this would of been signed after completing the drawing of Peter P.

If anyone wants to make me an offer before the auction ends there should be an option to do so, if not feel free to message me

Adding this one, because although it's clearly fake, someone seems to be bidding on it, and these items tend to get around.  Disappointed to see so much forgery in the UK. Offered at £48 start. :

Just adding some comments from an online legal site (Avvo.com), dating from January 2017, which I don't recall seeing before:

Asked in Denver, CO | January 22, 2017

Internet auction hosted a company that sold me bogus autographs. They refused a refund citing a disclaimer. Good in fraud?

I tried to get a refund from the company (Simon Parr Auctions)but they said the disclaimer prevents that. They are in the UK but I bought them online in the USA. The host company (Invaluable) has kicked them off their site and also claim immunity with a disclaimer. Are disclaimers good when there is fraudulent misrepresentation and the host knew about it? Good case or not?

1. Do you have a good case? It will depend on the disclaimer, your ability to prove that the signature was false and to show that they knew or should have known it was false. In addition, you may have to sue in England in order to collect against them.

2. A disclaimer will not provide protection against fraud. Whether the seller's actions constituted fraud, whether the amount in dispute justifies bringing an action, and whether you can obtain jurisdiction against the seller and enforce any judgment against it are matters to discuss with experienced Business or Litigation Attorneys.

3. A disclaimer is not a shield against fraud. However proving this fraud and damage may not be worth the cost of litigation.

https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/internet-auction-hosted-a-compan...

(Further to point 3, I would add that the UK has a 'small claims court service', which is designed to be low cost for the litigant.

Eg. If you’ve had a problem with a service or product
You can make a small claim for up to £10,000 if you have a problem with something you’ve paid for - like poor service or a faulty product. You can also make a small claim if you’ve paid for a service or product you haven’t received. You have the right to make a claim up to 6 years after you paid for the service or product . Sometimes you can have rights for longer than 6 years.

The court fee is based on the amount of money being claimed eg currently £60 online fee for an amount up to £1,000 claimed.)
