Another upcoming auction find, eh?
Yup
Why bid if you don't feel confident yourself?
Because I’m no expert, and would prefer to gain that confidence through the opinion of some people who have much more experience studying these signatures.....isn’t that why were all here?...
It has always bothered me - and I know everyone will give me heat - when people help those less knowledgeable for free, only for those less knowledgeable bidders to bid against me. I put in plenty of time learning so that I can tell what I should and shouldn't buy.
I have never posted anything here before bidding. Don't need to.
Definitely understand your position on this and if I was actively looking to purchase autographs at this time I’d probably not post potential purchases either. I too, like many here, learned Beatles autographs via the hit or miss method with more than a few misses. Having said that, saving someone else the unhappiness of purchasing fake autographs has a bit of a redeeming quality to it.
Up for sale at Ewbanks in the UK I think August 26th. Description indicates it has been seen and given the green light by Roger Epperson.
Should have plenty of bidders now
I say "yes"...
I honestly don't see how anyone can be certain about this style. I could be authentic, and probably is, but I have never seen the Lennon look like this. of course someone will say its a "rushed" signature, but the John does not appear to be rushed. Then again, why would a forger do a decent job on the John and totally blow the lennon. I guess this is why I rarely opine on Lennon, he is all over the place.
All depends...(to me)...on how he signed...what he signed on...(a table?..did he use his hand to hold the paper when signing?...etc.). You can also see the tape stain where someone taped this to their wall. Allow me to be the one to say that it's a "rushed" example. I've seen vintage McCartney's look nice at the beginning...and then fall apart as he signs his last name. It all depends on the circumstances at the time of signing. Maybe 1965?
All great points Jim. To me Lennon is the most difficult.
