Greg,
So what you're pointing out is that if someone is doing a signature study, they need to look at it like the average collector, and have it looked at by average collectors, so they make sure they get the right information across. Because people can come to the wrong conclusions based on exemplars that aren't comprehensive enough.

That's something important for everyone to remember.

I think it is an important trait. You convinced me of that. I'm not sure if it is limited to Hans Bakker or not and we don't know how many authentic signatures carry the same trait. You gave very precise estimates of how many Hendrix signatures had this trait or that trait. I don't that information is out there for Elvis. A Study of Elvis Presley's Autograph is a good place for anyone to start.

I think there are a lot of intangibles to Elvis' signature that can't be taught as well. Probably more so than a lot of autographs I can think of. Genuine examples, really good ones that you can look at any instantly say "that's Elvis!" can't be recreated by forgers as easily in my eyes.

It's interesting over the last few months how many Elvis autographs I've seen signed to "Mary". RR Auction sold one the other month which I think was genuine. Gottahaverockandroll.com sold one the other month that I think wasn't genuine. Mary must have been one hell of a big fan.

Greg: Is this a Baker forgery?

Heres the scan!

This was offered at ebay for buy it now price for 750$.

5 min after my last look at this, it was gone :(

Steve it works trough other browser :)

Another Mary???!!!

Very interesting discovery at isitreal.com. Under pre-prints for Elvis Presley it has that very same Hotel Peabody signed contract by Elvis Presley and Vernon Presley that I was wondering about earlier. It's funny that someone brought a Brandes item into the conversation because it says at the bottom that Brandes uploaded this (probably since the last time I've looked up Elvis on there).

I knew it was an authentic signature! I didn't know it was a facsimile signature. What were they selling these at Graceland or something? It's sort of a weird thing to be facsimile.

I think it's important to not think just in terms of Hans Bakker when talking about Elvis forgeries. Elvis is so widely forged that once you get past the mountains of absolute trash, there's still miles of signatures that the average collector who has done a lot of research would still probably think is real. That is Hans Bakker and a lot of other forgeries as well.

There are some new Elvis forgeries coming into the market that are amazingly good. Stay tuned.

I have a "Best Wishes" secreterial from ´76. It was sent to me from Graceland.

Similar to the ones you find on the bottom of the page here:

Luckily it´s not the only Elvis I have in my collection....

Damm I couldnt upload a scan once again1

Help me Steve :(

Do you think it will work if I use firefox or an other browser?

Eddie,

Sorry for the delay getting your others up. Was about to do it. Yes, please try Firefox and let me know. I think it may be a JavaScript issue. But IE worked fine for me.

No worries Steve!

I will get back once I have tried firefox.

thanks

Eddie
