The image I posted is from I believe 1948. Sold by Nate Sanders.

The original image posted by the member is not genuine. It's done by one of the numerous secretary's.

The K in Kennedy is wrong.

There are a few members who are extremely well versed in JFK signatures. I do hope they chim in.

Here is the overlay of the two

Hello,

Brian asked me for opinion ...

I'm sure the signature is authentic. Why? Michael Chris was so nice to share a page form my JFK study, here you can see a similar signature. I have some other signatures from this time, some with a postscript and all are similar to the signature on this letter. The key is the "J", thats a typical "J" from THIS time. But only from this time.

David Lewis: The Hamilton book is fine, but the secretarial one is from 1952 and is NOT similar to the signature on the letter.

Mark Adams:

The Nate Sanders letter was not from 1948 ...

The autograph letter signed by Sanders was undated, but on Senator stationery, that indicates at least 1952, you can't compare a letter 1947 with a letter 1952 or later. Especially for Kennedy thats impossible, his writing changed over the years.

Mark Adams: Your wrote #181 fits the bill, sorry that is not correct. #181 till #184 is a page from my study, these signatures are secretary signed, by JFK's secretary Mary Davis, you can see a small SIGN at the end of the signature. That was the sign of Mary Davis, the letter here has not that sign, therefore it was not Mary Davis. If you compare the "J" and some other letters, it is not similar.

I study JFK's handwriting since about 20 years and maybe thats of help.

Best wishes

That was quick.

I stand corrected! Thank you.

Hi Mr Weimer,

I signed up for the newsletter.

I must admit I thought this JFK was a secretarial signed. Obviously I was wrong according to your information.

I am not in your league of expertise. I used to buy a lot many years ago. My first jfk was back in 1981.

However over the last decade or so my main interest has shifted from collecting signatures etc to asian art.

Regards,

Mark Adams

Mark,

thanks!

I think collectors and dealers should share their information, thats important for the autograph community and I am always happy when I can help.

Best wishes
Andreas
