Need help identifying 1930's actor/musician

Hi, I would appreciate any and all assistance in identifying the subject in this letter and photo.  I purchased a large lot of items from the 30's, and most were musicians and actors,  so I'm assuming these are as well.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks like "Larry Cotton" to me, and there was a singer by that name.
