I switched my order from Rough Trade to Coles a couple of days ago. The difference was 30p extra, but Coles packaging is superb and for that amount it’s worth the peace of mind.
Coles is a great book shop. It's good to support small independent bookshops in these tough times.
Agree about Coles, one of my favourite UK stores. I have bought quite a few books from them and their packaging and customer service is brilliant. I will always chose them if buying multiple books.
The issue for those of us not in the UK is the postage costs. The costs to post to Australia is prohibitive unless buying several books (£45 for one, £60 for two or more), unless its a must have book where cost is not a factor. Postage is a bit cheaper for folks in US ( £30/£50) and cheaper for EU.
Roughtrade is £13 for one and £23 for two or more. This works out cheaper then using a re-shipper. I haven't had issues with books I have received from Roughtrade (or Waterstones/Hatchards for that matter).
A couple of interesting other books on the Coles site. A pre order for Duke Fakir of the Four Tops £20 and Paul McCartneys recent book for 8K
