I was under the impression that collegiate player's memorabilia couldn't be sold until they were out of college. Yet, this seller is saying they have a COA. Is this fake ? Thank you !

according to the NCAA, selling or trading memorabilia by college athletes is deemed illegal. The NCAA equates getting money for memorabilia to receiving improper benefits.   Thus it could be a fine line.

Not all college student athletes share this viewpoint but walk a fine line.  Whether it's authentic or not poses some questions regardless.

Thus, you might want to send this along to the athletic "dept" at Tennessee as the "volunteers" athletic director might want 1st crack at resolving this before the NCAA takes an interest.  Football Operations;or head coach would be a place to start;

Mike, oh how so true.  Tis why I suspect that they would be authentic although w/o some exemplar confirmation it's still good to get a comparison or at least obtain the "whom" on the coa.  Unfortunately, student athletes don't realize the headaches they can cause with the NCAA.  Last thing an athletic program wants is NCAA inquiries and while no monies may have gone to the athlete (or so they will claim) the penalties and sanctions handed out don't make the end results worth it.

OSU red jackets...haven't been out that way in along time.  Had many great adventures in columbus & on broad st.   Don't know if the Jitterbug cafe is still running but it was a great watering hole after along day.

I asked him how he could have a COA if he wasn't a dealer since they weren't allowed. He replied back that the players couldn't sell, but they could. Anyway, I went back in after his response and the item was "sold" even though it had been on there for a LONG time. Coincidence ? I think not. Thank you so much for all of your input, I really appreciate it !! I've been a collector for quite a while, but just a casual one, not a dealor or a pro. There are so many fakes out there I just don't want to take a chance.  I'm so glad I found this site, THANK YOU !!
