Hello,

I’m sorry to repost my query from the general discussion but I just realized there is a dedicated group for Andy Griffith and I’m hoping to get more eyes on this post.

Could I please ask the Andy Griffith autograph collectors for their opinion on this dual-signed photo of Andy and Ron Howard?  To me eye, the autographs look good, but I know Andy is especially problematic due to all the secretarials and outright fakes littering the marketplace. Any opinions on authenticity of these signatures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'll refrain as I am the seller of this ,:)

Ha!  Well, I certainly commend you for your restraint!  Personally, I think the autographs look very good, but I am a mere novice when it comes to Andy Griffith (and even more so when it comes to Ron Howard), and so I am just being cautious.   Andy’s autograph is not one of the ones I have made any great study of over the years, although I think I have at least gotten reasonably good at detecting his secretarials.  Also, I have studied a dozen or so of his signed checks that I found online, and the signature on this photo compares very favorably in my opinion.  I just don’t have the familiarity that I normally like to have when purchasing an autograph, and so I’m hoping for some Andy experts who can back up my amateur opinion.  Thanks!

Sean let’s talk….

Dr. Loomis where are you? :) He will know.

The Griffith is unquestionably authentic. My only concern is it printed or stamped? If not it’s the real McCoy. Seller????

Thanks for the response. I was the seller however I decided to remove it and keep it. Being a huge fan I've been studying his autograph from some time. I received a few of the Link secretarials back in the 80s and when I discovered this I really studied Griffiths signature. I've had two other nice genuine sigs on TV show photos that I have sold and so I decided I should keep this for my collection.finding a photo from his show signed is very difficult. Even though this isn't the best I do like it and would be up for trading it for another authentic signed photo from the show. If that doesn't happen I will be fine keeping this as I am afraid not many will ever come up.  thanks for the opinion on it. I appreciate the feedback

Hi Sean,

Great! So you have it. Can you make a larger better scan so we can see that it is handsigned? I see the color at the belt but that doesn't preclude Autopen or Preprint. I can see it is not an Autopen but many here can't tell the difference and this would be a good example. Thanks! This would help TAGS collectors a LOT!

Thanks! Attached are a few more. It hard to get a pic showing the pen indentation but the second photo sort of shows that. Also the back has a label for the show as well.
