I am keen to know if the signature I purchased some time ago is real or possibly fake.  Grateful if those with experience can kindly take a look and let me know your thoughts as to the authenticity of this signature of Howard Carter, the archaeologist who discovered Tutankhamun.  .

Hi

I've seen this style in brown ink before. I may have purchased similar items from the seller. Without mentioning names did you purchase this on Ebay from a dealer in the South West of England ?

Hi,

Sorry for delay in replying, been away on work trip.

I can confirm I purchased on Ebay from a dealer in the South West of England.

Neil

Hi Neil,

Mmm I thought so. I think you'll find that if you offer it to a major autogrsph auction house like RR auctions or even a reputable English auction house like Chiswick auctions that this will be turned down.

Sorry to bring you the bad news but I've been stung by this seller too in the past.

The sig doesnt look right to me  and also it looks far too fresh .  I hope you didnt pay too much for it as Carter's sig is very expensive

It's a picture removed or cut from a stereo-view card. There would have been two side by side.

It would be fair game for an autograph, but why cut it in half? That would ruin its value in the stereo-view.

Adds to the suspicion....
