Wanted to hear some opinions as to whether a PSA encapsulated JFK signed letter as a congressman is a fair trade for a PSA encapsulated James Dean signed album page?
It's a 1951 bold ink signature JFK (signed "John Kennedy") typed letter signed on a Congress of the United States letterhead detailing veterans affairs. The James Dean autograph is relatively light and faded, signed James Dean on aged album page measuring approximately 4X5 inches, both PSA authenticated
Thanks!

I think it depends on where your passion is on this one.   They are both "heavy hitters" in the autograph world.  I would be certain on the James Dean, however.  I've seen some album pages over time that were not good (and sold in reputable auctions).  Guess it also comes down to how that album page looks given it's issues.

I’ve attached a picture of the Dean autograph, not the best condition

There's no way to get the advice you need without posting photos. That said, a faded James Dean like you described is roughly a $1,000 item, and a JFK as you described is roughly $2,000-$3,000.

The James Dean looks like it was restored and the photo added. The signature does not look like faded ink to me. It's the same color as the paper around it, only darker.

I'd avoid it, period.

I'd slightly disagree on the value of James Dean. I think it's worth more than $1k.

Don't his signed album pages usually go for $2k and up?

You're right, Dean signed pages are usually about $2,000+, but Gabriel described it as light and faded, which makes it worth a lot less. But now that he posted the photo of it I think it's worth even less.

Yeah....certainly not the best one could hope for....by any stretch.

The JFK has a nice, full signature but generic content. I'd say it's worth $1,500-$2,000.

The seller is asking to trade the JFK letter + $1500 for the James Dean

Gabriel -

I don't believe that's a fair price in trade value toward James Dean.  Certainly not JFK + $1500.

Can you buy the Dean outright?   Given it's contrast issues, I wouldn't say Dean isn't worth much more than $2k.  I do disagree that it's just worth $1k (forgive me, Steve....LOL).

If you like the Dean and need to raise funds, you might be best off trying to sell the JFK yourself and put the money toward the Dean.
