This is my first time using this site. My father was a good friend of President Bush for decades. I inherited all of his Bush collection. Does this look like an autopen signature?...also... When I angle the photo I don't see any indents from the writing....but the back of the photo show it came from the White House photographer so I don't think it is a copy

Hi Karen,

Welcome to Autograph Live! Let's use this discussion and I'll delete your other two. That way the replies will be in one place.

Hi Karen I bought the $50 Bill from you , this photo of Bush's inauguration is indeed hand signed, if you hold it at an angle you will see the writing is more dull than the shiny surface of the photo

Absolutely legit.  Bush 41 might have been the most incredible signing President ever.  Guessing if your father had a personal relationship with him, there is a lot of handwritten correspondence from 41.

Real, and a fantastic piece - great inscription and on an official White House photo, no less.

I second this. Definitely authentic and a beautiful piece.

Just to add, "So help me God" is the last line of the Presidential oath of office, which is what makes the inscription so great.

I knew that and I agree. Very appropriate given the photo being signed.

I knew that you would know but I wanted to make sure the OP knew.  😉

I found your father's notice online.  It's no surprise they were friends especially with your father's love of fishing.

Being a genuine friend of GHWB, I'd be a little surprised if there are any autopen signatures in your father's collection.  I suppose it's possible that letters during his time as president might have been autopenned if an overzealous staffer handled the correspondence, but even with those letters (if any) the signatures are very probably good.

Agree 100%. 41 was amazing that way.
