These pop-up recently after the original artwork sold over 30 years ago. There’s no mention of unnumbered, pencil signed lithos in the bowie wonderworld database. Are these really good forgeries or the real deal?
One of them has a coa by Andy Peters but people here think that’s a red flag….

All the litho prints were released as signed and numbered editions, no unnumbered editions were released.
I think this along with the COA from Peters would be a very red flag.

That is because it is. Most everyone I hear from says they were sold something special at a good price from a record executive. I was told the same. Here is the signature on a Heroes self Portrait from the 20th anniversary. It WAS numbered. It also is not signed by David Bowie. Look at the numerals among the obvious. People don't refund tens of thousands of dollars of items that would be evidentiary in court. Unless...
I agree that the '98 in your post looks wrong but I don't see that for the '99 in my post...
I have seen faked lithos before but those originated in Italy if I remember correctly (and even Peter identified those to be fake).
The only examples of the OP I have seen are unnumbered with peters papers. One must be very careful today since this whole mess from Ford./peters. The pencil forgery I showed was also on a self portrait, from "an RCA record executive" and at a very good price, like most everyone else.
I haven't seen these w/o Peters papers. Unless you can prove it existed before the fiasco started (c. 2017) I would not be comfortable. It is very close but the negative space in the "o" (often seen in peters) and the numerals seem atypical. The whole thing seems compact. I have seen peters do a decent "B" as well. And why is it unnumbered? I would not listen to anything "peters" has to say. He doesn't exist as far as I know. Everyone, IIRC, paid a "Tony Ford." Then there was the whole facial recognition thing where one claimed to be the other (peters claimed to be Ford). as I recall So what is the history of this item? If these are the only papers and it never sold before, it will forever be tainted.
The paper my litho was on was from Italy (Fabriano - correct), perhaps the print, but the signature I don't think so
PS - The original of this 1994 drawing last sold in 2016 I believe.
I think I said that backwards - Ford claimed to be peters...in any event, I'd steer clear of things sourced from there unless you have previous sales history/provenance predating c. 2017. YYMV.
