For that price, it was worth the risk. I'm not familiar with his signature, but don't athletes usually sign on the number? (also, Google to see what his autograph looks like and you can compare that way)
Thank you for the feedback! I was reading that sometimes athlete's will sign outside of the numbers if they are signing out in the field (Like quickly after a game for a fan who just hands it to them) and the marker they are given is too dark for the numbers. I did look up his signature and it seems consistent with how he signs. Would this be worth paying to get authenticated and if so who do you prefer to authentic with?
I met Derrick Rose at a signing event in a Suzuki dealership way back when he first started his career. I brought a white bulls jersey and asked him to sign as large as he could on the jersey next to his number. He looked at me and said usually people want the number signed. Before I could respond, he pulled the jersey tight and signed as I requested. No time to think, had to keep the line moving. I absolutely love how it turned out.
I would post a pic but it's currently overseas (long story but I left a ton of items with my wife's family after attempting to move there permanently many years ago, didn't work out obviously) hopefully I'll be able to get it back in my collection soon. Point is, it's not unheard of for the jersey to be signed. Its just most people go with the trends and overall value potential. Although yes, some athletes are very picky about this.
No, don't get it authenticated. I mean, if you're going to try to sell it, maybe. But Mcnabb isn't a Hall of Famer so...I don't think it's worth the money to get it authenticated.
