Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')
I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures' or 'Disney characters'.
Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

More fake MJ drawings, this time from 'Gotta'.
1. Mickey Mouse (in King-style cloak and crown, with glove). LoA from RE. Starting bids from $1k, but already at $2,100.

The first of these Mickey drawings seems to have an interesting origin:
Mickey's Fairy Tale Theatre has several figures in the same pose and different costume, but there is a much closer version dated December 2018 on mycast.io.

...and these two fake Mickey 'MJ' drawings each sold for more than the three 'MJ owned and worn fedoras' that were included in the same sale. One of the fedoras sold for $6k and the other two fedoras sold for $10k each.
These fake Mickey drawings have even sold for more than the much larger (also fake) 'MJ drawings' in the BLS collection, which were offered for sale by Kings Auctions in 2024 at $10k each. (Just 9 of the appx 100 BLS drawings were sold for $10k each. The remainder are still unsold). Extraordinary. Words fail me.
I wonder if both 'Mickey' drawings were purchased by the same person..?

Another Mickey Mouse fake drawing, this time from WeeArt Gallery Inc of Irvine CA listed on liveauctioneers with a starting price of $500 and a crazy estimate of $20-35,000.
Like many fake MJ drawings, this is a copy of another (likely fake) drawing, this time by Brett LS, who also created a portrait and various paintings of MJ. The original 'Baseball Mickey' drawing is included on p73 of Brett's book 'Kunstwerke von Michael Jackson', where the dimensions are given as 46.3 x 40.3 cms. This drawing was unsold at the Kings Auction of 'MJ drawings' held on 13 October 2024. The MJ Estate has indicated that the Brett LS 'MJ drawing collection' does not have proof of authenticity, and before the Kings Auctions sale gave a public warning of 'buyer(s) beware'.

Another fake-signed MJ Donald Duck drawing, this time with a 'bow' tie, offered at $500 starting price by Irvington Auction Inc. Ontario on Liveauctioneers. Dimensions 13.5 x 8 7/8 ins. Another crazy estimate given as $40-50k.

With MJ's birthday anniversary arriving on 29th August, a number of fake MJ drawings have again been listed on Liveauctioneers, this time by GWS Auctions of Maitland, Florida with a sale date of 5th Sept. 2026.
1. Mickey Mouse pink / lilac drawing (Lot 0015E), with a start price of $240 and estimates up to $3,500.

This appears to be a copy of the fake Mickey drawing with 'leg not in shoe', discussed on page 17 of this thread and illustrated in the page headers. The p17 drawing had been listed for sale in 2014, but the new drawing listed at Liveauctioneers is shown with an Epperson REAL CoA dated 7-10-18. The drawings are very similar, but appear to differ in the depth of colouring for eg the eyes, nose and buttons.

2. The next fake on GWS (Lot 0015D, Snow White in blue Crayon) was previously shown on p1 of this thread, in December 2014. It is now listed on Liveauctioneers with a starting price of $240 and an upper estimate of $3,500. The listing includes an Epperson CoA dated 7-10-14.
