This is the one you said that was signed in the 80's?

Yes, 1989.
Didn't he start signing just Paul about 2 years ago?

yes it was recent he starting signing first name only. He never signed the Paul like this in the 80's am sure.

I think you're right Barry.

A friend got McCartney at the Hollywood Bowl or LAX when he was here for his concert in Spring 2010 (March?). Paul signed a Sgt. Pepper's with his classic "Paul M" and the big underline starting from the right.

I REALLY have to qualify my opinion: Michael, you should spend $15 getting a quick opinion from Roger Epperson on this. But I am uncomfortable with your McCartney.

I agree 100% Steve. Roger will tell you in a flash. I was looking at a signed picture about a year ago and was concerned it was signed just Paul. Roger told me then that he had started signing that way about a year before. I looked up some recent sigs and they do look similar to this one. But if signed in the 80s? Ask Roger.

Thanks, Barry. Signatures can vary a lot--if it's for someone he knew he might have just signed Paul, or have been jammed or lazy that day. So I'd never use that he just signed his first name as the determining factor. But in this case, I don't trust the signature. The 'a' isn't signed like I'm used to seeing. The signature is a bit more streamlined than I'd expect. The P and L are close but doesn't look like what I've seen.

But then again, someone who really knows their stuff may say yeah...it's fine.

I have seen this signature before on here. I agree with Steve on the "first name" thing.  it is not realistic to presume that he NEVER signed just "Paul" until a couple of years ago, so I would not rule out the signature on that basis. I have to say that it is awfully close.......take a look at this JSA authenticated Mac:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PAUL-McCARTNEY-SIGNED-CUT-AUTOGRAPH-AUTO-JS...

the "a" is right on, as is the spacing between the "u" and "l".  And the "l" looks correct.  I would not rule this one out, it could be authentic.

I haven't seen just Paul on old sigs, I guess there could be some. Sharpie came out with gold markers in 04. I guess there were other gold markers 23 years ago?

Thank you all!

I think nobody can say he NEVER signed like this in the 80`s.

Look at this signature. It`s from the 90`s and has a Tracks COA!b21299large.jpg

My problem is, I have different opinions, from some Beatles Autographs Specialists.

I have negative opinions from Greig, Roger Epperson and Frank Seltier (Bavarian-Beatles-Store). They all say the signature looks OK,.....but he never signed like this in 1989.

I have positive opinions from PAAS, Rolf Ramseier, Uwe Blaschke (German Beatles Specialist) and at last from Tracks.

What should I do? Can I put this signature in a trash-box when Tracks say that the signature is OK?

".... and in the end...."  I must ask Mr. McCartney himself. ;-)

Please excuse my wrong english language!

You've got enough votes saying it's good, particularly if Tracks likes it, that you should go with it being good. Tracks is golden, Rolf is very ethical...I don't know the German expert. You've done your homework and have been highly conscientious. If Tracks will issue a COA it will be easy to sell.
Thank you Steve

"......If Tracks will issue a COA it will be easy to sell."

And this is exactly my problem. The last words in the e-Mail from Track goes like this:
"I do feel that the Paul McCartney autographs is OK but wie do not issue COA's for items wie have not sold."

What else can I do? Is it possible and helpful to ask Mr. Caiazzo? He writes on his homepage with Authentication services: " I am not providing authentication services for the general public at this time."

Regards Michael

PS: I don't want to sell this Autograph, but I want to have a COA.
