On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

I'm celebrating a family birthday and not following this much, just catching up via email message notices. Please, only one member profile per person. You'll eventually get found out anyway. If you are an autograph professional you must use your real name or your business's name. We prefer everyone use their real names and we may require it of some people if they are making serious accusations. Also...Anne Marie is not an operative. She's a long time valued member of this community.

Pardon me Steve, And pardon me Anne Marie if I have included you in with those you do not belong.  There certainly ARE operatives out in force throughout the internet whose mission it is to destroy Michael Jackson's righteous Legacy and turn truth on its head.  These operatives are in the majority and they have been succeeding in swaying public opinion for over 3 years now.  As a member of the minority attempting to bring truth to all aspects of Michael Jackson's Life and Legacy - I find myself tonight as usual fending an uphill course.  If I have mistaken anyone's purpose, I apologize.

The good news Anne Marie is that in my mere opinion, your signature rings true.  Regards.

Steve..I looked and looked..and I really do not recognize this autograph of michael's as authentic...how they can offer so MANY forgeries is amaszing..the FBI should be called. many young fans never met him or saw gim sign in person..these examples you posted are pretty bad. I dont see the mas good. In fact his autograph is pretty consistent since the late 80's through about 2006.

David, I agree with you. I don't understand how a major auction house can offer so many forgeries. It is a crime and I am disappointed because I look forward to the MJ December auctions at Julien's for the past three years. Sad.

Well now you have to question other artist signatures they sell. I have not looked at their catalog to see other

If they are bad, I think Julien's was likely bamboozled.

I kind of have that opinion also. But its not the first time. They have a reputation to uphold and I dont think they have done it enough in the past and especially not now.

Thanks, David. If they are bad, and unless convincing evidence to the contrary comes out I think they are, then I agree with you. I think Julien's should contact law enforcement if they agree they're bad.

October 11, 1989 Gardner Elementary School - Michael Jackson signs the school chalkboard:

PLEASE SEE THE VIDEO BELOW THE PHOTO (I suggest you watch the whole video because it's wonderful :)  - however, the actual witnessing of Michael Jackson's signing can be seen at approximately 3:20

Wendy,

Great find, I love the video and watching Michael actually signing his name.

This can not be disputed as a 100% authentic hand signed Michael Jackson autograph.

Yet if I would have just posted the signature without the video with a P.A.A.S. certificate, I would once again have to explain myself to Monty.

You do not know how many time I had to discuss with collectors that yes Michael Jackson does sometimes use the letter 'H" in Michael.

Sweet to watch isn't it.

There you go! Proof of the H. And hey, I'd have believed your certificate alone.. We LOVE you here! :)

Thanks, Wendy. It was valuable watching him sign this, and seeing him writing the word Love. It's surprising how similar his writing looks to the way he writes in his normal size and horizontally.

Notice the slight backward slant to his signature. The autographs I've seen of his were all vertical or slanted to the left. The ones in the Tompkins & Bush sale are vertical or slanted right. Comparing the word "Love" in the Tompkins & Bush examples and known genuine MJs shows another major difference.
