On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

I am trying to catch up and follow the facts of this discussion. There seems to be important information and studies throughout the many pages of this discussion. I would like to just bring forward what I feel are just a few of the key examples and information that needs to be focused on.

The biggest give away for me was the two XX on both MJ(Bush) signature on Juliens auction and the same Bush

The 1st image is said to have been signed by Michael Jackson.
The 2nd image is said to have been signed by Michael Bush.

I will post another 2 comparisons I did in attachments here.

1.)  The loop N in Jackson

2.)  N's and E's

This Facebook link is something I hope was not missed , it may take some time to go through but please see every page.

why are we having this discussion.. and still questioning the authenticity... the autographs are 100% fake !!!! you won't find examples of the Bush style......

i'm in London i can't do much from here without buying a plane ticket.. don't you have news outlets you can call to expose this SCAM.

There are reputations and more at stake here, Justin, so we can't be too careful.

This could be debated until the cows come home. EVERYONE will not agree they are fake. There has to come a time when the debate stops and action is taken, the auction is coming quickly.

I wish I did not have a full time job and could spend the next few days investigating this but unfortunately I do not have that luxury right now.

Justin and I "followed" Michael literally all over the world for most of our lives.
We know everything about Michael as if he is a part of ourselves, where he was on any given day, what he was wearing, who he was with, what he was doing, we have studied and loved him so much we instinctually know when something is wrong. (Justin = Waldo in his posted autographs, Michael's nickname for him).

As you can see we have personal notes from Michael...he knew us and that means many of the people who have been in Michael's life for a long time knew us too. Sometimes this works against us...

The problem is because we are "just" fans people like Julien's will trivialize us or ignore us because they think they are above us. They want everyone to think we are just raging fanatics, when in fact this is not true and we only speak out on issues when we really believe injustice is involved, otherwise we would constantly be fighting the myriad of crazies that exist in the world of MJ fandom. Sure, ideally I would prefer none of the items to be auctioned but I understand the decision to do so even if I don't like it, but that is not the fight we are fighting.

Please don't let Julien's twist it into that and undermine the REAL issue.
This is very frustrating so we are asking for your HELP to legitimize this disgrace by speaking out as more than "just fans".

We liked Michael Bush for a long time and had a lot of respect for him, I actually hope there is some sensible explanation for this. But the fact it is not being addressed is very questionable.

Can someone please contact them or an overseeing authority before it is too late??

Sandy,

I posted this discussion less than two days ago and it's important to give information and evidence enough time to come out. The sale is on December 2, so we have a little time. I emailed and spoke with Darren Julien over the weekend, and he was completely confident with their authenticity because they're from a source he felt was unimpeachable. Let's give Julien's a few days to look things over and digest this, and in the meantime get as many witnessed MJ autographs as possible uploaded to compare to.

what's the unfriending and blocking people on facebook about..  in the hope that we just vanish and go away perhaps?

Michael Bush said to me in person several weeks ago that a person close to Michael Jackson can pretty much say and lay claim to anything now and no one is going to question it. telling isn't it?

that's where your buddy Darren is getting the unimpeachable bollocks from!

Amen Amen Amen! I dont want to accuse either. I just want an explanation. How is it these signatures are so very different than any know, plus they have a lot of consistencies of Michael bush himself. I dont want to believe that but no explanations being given and we have to be smart. We cant take everything face value just cause someone says so. The fans are not fanatics (well most anyway), but we are not stupid and not below Juliens or MLB.

Sandy, thank you for writing this.

It is EXACTLY the case in point. Perfectly expressed.

Steve, what was Julien's reaction to you questioning the authenticity and posting this discussion?
Did they seem concerned themselves they have been duped, or did they want this kept hush-hush??

Sandy,

When I emailed Darren about my concerns on Friday he said they were unquestionably genuine and from a source, Michael Bush, that didn't need the money, so there would be no reason for him to forge them.

We spoke on Saturday morning and he gave me more reasons why he was sure they were good, including that MJ would sometimes stay at Tompkins' and Bush's house and he signed for them when he was there. He said that many that we consider genuine were actually signed by Miko Brando, so those examples are off. The ones in the auction are the true ones.

When I emailed Darren Sunday and said I was going to post this discussion, he reiterated that I was wrong and was disappointed. He did not try to talk me out of it further, but I had made it clear that I had to do it.
