On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

i was just retaliating.

i have no idea about that hat. i've seen some real and then some extremely good copies. i cannot tell anymore with those. the Jackson part looks like a piece of spaghetti on this one. perhaps Wendy can chime in.

Like you Justin, the MJ hat forgeries are in such abundance that I'm on overload with them.  The above example and ones like it I've seen on eBay - as Steve said - have obnoxious, laughable "wishful thinking" price tags placed on them.  That alone lets me know they're FAKES. And then there's the actual signature just to bring it home with a huge underscore beneath the word FORGERY.

This is not a "good fake".

Thanks for the clarification :)

Any NASCAR fans can email me at racingauthentication@yahoo.com. Thankfully, I don't know or want to know MJ autographs.

The situation is interesting to me though.

Steve, did Julian's advertise on this site before? I remember some auction house but can't remember which one.

Brandon - I think the facts are pretty straight forward.

1. These B/T signatures are GARBAGE. I haven't seen one person show any proof to the contrary.

2. Juilen's can say whatever they want. Because regardless of their role in this, they have taken MAJOR shots to their credibility.

3. From what I can tell, DB is mostly interested in muddying the waters (in this particular discussion, mind you) and playing out a personal vendetta against Steve that I neither know or care anything about.

Finally, what's wrong with being a fan, Mr. Nascar fanatic? I don't give 2 s**** about Nascar which is why you never see me commenting on it.

Your facts are about as accurate as Michelle jay's contention I'm really debbie jo.  Btw, is debbie jo from petticoat junction?

incidently, NASCAR has 75 million fans who purchase over $3 billion annually and I'm sure your not being one of them is of little loss.

Isn't it extremely premature to be claiming they have taken MAJOR shots to their credibility from whom?  The proof may be how much these items sell for unless demonstratable and convincing evidence is accepted by Juliens -or- some other forces steps in to hold up the auction.

Seems the tea leaves I'm reading at this junction is they could care less what you or I think.

My point was that I don't show up on NASCAR threads making fun of fans who enjoy it, regardless of my personal feelings about it. Do you think I really care how much money NASCAR brings in? Are you serious? Are you gonna' tell me your Dad can beat up my Dad next, DB? Grow up, please.

Yes, Julien's advertised with us either early this year or last.

Brandon Mysinger!! Sir you are completely out of line with that statement!! Michael had close friends, real friends who "Followed" his every performance,, He loved, welcomed and treated them special. Please do not pass judgment on those that you have never met, those that you dont even know. Yes of course Michael had stalkers too, liars, crazy fruit loops but they are not in this discussion.

Thank you

I dunno about that someone here thinks I'm debbie jo and that for me classifies as a crazy fruit loop.

The solution to this is very very simple.  Understand the reasons (clearly & fully) of why Darren Julien feels these are authentic.  Then, if possible, within that specific timeframe & claimed signing see if there is any contradictory "proof positive, as possible" evidence.  Determine, if the signatures displayed have any connection to known signatures of someone other than Jackson to see if there are others involved.

Comparing what is being sold to others that have been presented in this thread as "proof positive" as being fakes are obviously falling on deaf ears from what I can see.

I've been on the go since about 5 a.m. and I got the word that if I was online much today the turkey wouldn't be the only one losing their giblets. Some moderation and answers may not happen until tomorrow.

I think I clarified earlier that you were not Debbie Jo, but there's a lot of action going on among the fanatical fans, with people wondering who certain people really are. Just like we see in autographs.

The main thing to understand about the autographs being questioned in the Tompkins & Bush sale is that they are so far off, so completely unlike anything we can find that it doesn't even look like the signer tried to get it right. It's like they didn't realize that most autographs can be authenticated with reasonable accuracy...like they figured they could sign anything close and it wouldn't be questioned if sold by a reputable auction house or dealer.

Remember when people would take their Fords and Chevys and put Mercedes Benz hood ornaments and chrome on them to try to fool their friends? That's how obviously wrong these are. If you looked at these and known varieties of MJ's autographs, you probably could easily tell yourself.
That's understood among the people here.

However, building the "case" this way is ineffective.

Darren feels they are authentic because that is the BS being presented to him by Bush.

Bush has said recently that anyone once close to Michael can pretty much say or lay claim to anything NOW and no one can question it.

so Darren isn't going to question it because of Bush's connection to MJ.

Bush is so far into his own deceit that people who call Bush out on it are being ignored, blocked, actual friendships thrown away, he's just running and hiding from some because he's been caught out, instead of him trying to add reasoning or a peace offering into the equation.
