Dealers altering photos on their web sites to show them for sale

I just bought this photo of Sam elliott that looked great on the web site? Problem is it was obviously altered for the sale the signature is real hard to see on the original photo, which means it was lightened on the web site to entice buyers? Should there not be a disclaimer on the description to say that? The problem now is if I return it I will be out the return shipping plus the original shipping. I am disappointed in this seller I have defended him many times. Guess you learn as you go....

Actually, it might not have been completely intentional.  I scanned a signed photo for ebay once, then realized that the signature's contrast in a fairly dark photo looked much, much better in the scan.  I had to explain in the auction details that the signature was somewhat harder to see on the actual photo than the scan suggested.

I guess it just falls under deceptive practices...

They should have been more up front about the contrast.

Would stating an item was signed at a private signing a dealer hosted yet has a GAI sticker on it be considered deceptive when all other private signing photos do not have the same GAI stickers?

Why wouldnt a dealer just back up their private signing with COA, photos and lifetime guarantee? HMMM!

Louie,

Could you please post a scan of the one you got? If it's misrepresented and you paid by bank card, you can file a complaint that it's not as represented, probably get full reimbursement via chargeback and the dealer will generally have to pay for return shipping (don't ship back until he pays it).

Where did you buy it?

Steve this the photo from the sellers site as it was shown, in person its so dark unless you hold it just right you cant really see the writing.

That's what I thought, Louie. I meant upload an image of what it really looks like.

Have you contacted the seller? They may be happy to issue a refund and pay return shipping since it's so much worse than the picture.
