On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.
Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.
Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.
If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/
Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.
Thanks for your help.

Does this look like the same shirt? The piping does not match to me and the buttons are different (smaller emblem on sold shirt buttons, larger emblem taking up the entire button on the shirt Michael is wearing). This shirt sold October 2010 at the Legends Auction, Lot 402 http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/8/lot/1885/
It is supposed to be the same shirt worn in the publicity photos with Lisa Marie for the ABC Primetime interview with Diane Sawyer. The shirt has gold, thick piping, but the picture of Michael has a thin, white piping. What do you think?
Maybe. I think they are different. The only thing that looks like what he sold was the shoulder piping - that shape and size matches. The buttons are different too. Its good to discuss regardless.
Good call, Michelle. Definitely different buttons. Can't tell for sure about the color of the piping, but the width of the piping looks different to me.
Michael also wore one of these shirts at the April 18, 1995 World Summit of Children at Neverland - the photos are further away, but in last photo it really looks like he's wearing the shirt Julien's sold (buttons with the larger outer rim of gold and smaller inside circle of encrusted crystals).
Either way, Julien's stating that the shirt they sold in their 2010 Legends Auction (Lot 402) as being THE shirt from the Jonathan Exley , Primetime Live promotional photo shoot seems an obvious misrepresentation based on the button discrepancy.
I'm not sure on some of these. Outside of that set of sketches with the L that swoops down that I sent yesterday (and to you pvtly before), Bush ordinarily doesn't use the deep L in Love. Unless, he started out learning and used the deep L and then eventually got sloppy and started signing half his own style half MJ which is seen in this months auction (Dec 12 and some of past auctions). ?????
MJ-fan....I think you exactly rite. BTW- Very impressive, you've now got the forgers sig down to the month! Nice! LOL
