Hal, even though I'm from Wisconsin, I don't really know Wilson's signature.  But here is my instinct in general:

It sounds shady from what you've described.  If it came from a Wilson private/public signing, that info really should be included.  Preferably, that seller's original coa should be included as well.  That's my opinion.  Anyone dealing in sports autographs should have this information.  If they don't, shame on them.

That being said, I personally would return the item and look to buy one directly from a good seller who had a signing with Wilson (if you're okay with Badgers items, I may even know a couple in Wisconsin).

Thanks Rich. This is definitely turning into an eye opening learning experience for me. This is the first autographed item I have ever purchased. I bought this through Amazon, so I assumed if the seller had a stellar rating, all would be good. This dealer sells a lot of signed memorabilia and everyone seems to be happy.

But now I am learning what the 100 % percent money back guarantee is all about. It appears to prevent negative feedback from ever being left.

I will come back and post what the outcome of the PSA/DNA authenticator says, and I am not expecting anything positive.

Well good news. The helmet came back from PSA/DNA authenticated with a "Rookie Graph"!

I think it looks good. Very similar to what I got from him in college last year (a little less in the lettering department.)
BUT, I would have not purchased it for the simple fact that the pen flow wasn't really all that nice and the paint spatter at the very beginning of the R makes this a not perfect signature. If you are paying top dollar for this autograph, I'd prefer it to be a perfect signature.
AND, I would think that an autograph company that's paying these athletes good money would at least consider the autograph they are paying for and as such, wouldn't give the athlete a dime for this signature in the first place. But, to each his own. And if you want to continue to pay for horrific autographs, these athletes are gonna go down that road even further. When you are getting an autograph for free, you are getting what you pay for. But in a pay for signature basis, to me, this just is not acceptable.
