On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

They rehearsed the 24th evening, apparently from 10pm until just after midnight early a.m of the 25th.  Its there he apparently got the sig.  And I don't buy it at all.

Then it would be pretty much the same time as the other one signed June 24. Big difference in the fluidity of the two, but like Helen said it does look like what you would expect from someone under the influence of something or not well. It is shaky and not smooth but it does look like his handwriting to me.

it could have been earlier on that day, but Michael didnt do any autos that day??

That is the audacity - the shameless audacity of Michael Lee Bush that I am saying I'm disgusted and livid over.  That he would either A.) lie about this being presumably the last signing done by MJ (that would make it a most valuable item then wouldn't it $$$$$) .... or B.) have been the predator we know he is to have shoved the sketch under MJ's face to sign during this chaotic time and with Michael seriously in need of medical care, by Bush's own admission (watch the 20/20 interview).

And let me be clear:  Michael was not 'drugged' or 'under the influence'.  He was being poisoned.

I posted the two signatures, June 24 and June 25 for comparison and discussion of what we all thought.  I hadn't given an opinion as to the authenticity of either example.  Only that there is a significant and to me, implausible difference between the two.

They could both be real.  They could both be fake.

I'm actually leaning toward the June 24 sig sold by darren to be fake.

I agree.

By all accounts the final rehearsal ended just after midnight, June 25, 2009.

According to Talitha who was there on the last night, Michael did not stop to sign any autos, so the one Juliens have with the date 6/24/09 is suspect, im curious to know who consigned that???

You and me both, I'd love to know the consignor on the June 24 sig.  Talitha has said MJ didn't stop for autographs, which was unusual for him.  I've read the same thing from two other sources,, Jerm and Toya who were told as much by fans who were there.  Unless the June 24 signature came from within the building, it certainly is suspect.

And even then.... it matter's who consigned and what we all judge their character to be.

So do you think the sig on the sketch is fake? Actually, if they all looked like that and I was told the "drugs" story, I could believe it. That's what I'd expect a signature & handwriting to look like if somebody's not very well.

Yes! Lois DeArmond NOT Dennis Tompkins signed sketch. Tompkins does not illustrate that well. Five of the six Dangerous tour costume sketches sold in T&B sale are dated '92. Billie Jean sketch dated '09. Apparently DeArmond was involved in the designing/illustrating of the This Is It costumes. T&B NOT the exclusive designers and ultimate insiders to MJ that Bush (and foreword writers in books) want to portray. DeArmond's resume: "...I have been working in the Motion Picture Industry for over 25 years as an Assistant Costume Designer and Costume Illustrator." http://www.linkedin.com/pub/dir/Lois/Dearmond
Another of her costume sketches for "The Babe" film (also dated '92) in her same style of illustration http://www.artcadeonline.com/original-artwork/illustration/detail.a...

So MJ signs a sketch for T&B,,, a sketch neither one of them even illustrated,,, signs it to them both personally... and does this after a long grueling final run through to an upcoming grueling tour,,, with everything on Michael's mind regarding pending events... THIS is the one thing he thinks to do,, sign this freakin' sketch to T&B.  AND he does this just after the stroke of midnight on the last day of his life.

Bush's lies just keep mounting.  He continues to reveal his true degenerate, slug of the earth character.  Lies piled on top of pathetic lies.  Fills his exploitative book with disrespect and contempt for Michael.  Caricature and condescension.  Yet another "friend" like so many others who've used and abused Michael for their own self promotion and material gain.  Anything for money.  And this B*ST*RD believes he is entitled to it ALL.  I can't wait for Karma any longer, it takes too long.  I need to see Justice. Now.

He claims a few others in the book are by Dennis as well and they aren't.   All of the sketches that sat on their table for the photoshoot  are Lois', she has a specific style to her drawings, as well as the splash of the grey behind her pics... like these.  (we already know the bottom one is hers)

Yet in the book, he claims this one is Dennis' as is the one under it.  He does not draw faces that realistic, he has more of a comicbook look to his.  If that makes sense.  Plus it's obvious the first one is hers.  duh.

That's just insane, it's getting weirder and weirder! Should we alert her to this? She's has a FB page... http://www.facebook.com/pages/DeArmond-Costume-Art/110038962380750 It's so sloppy and unprofessional not to give correct credits!

Does Bush mention her at all? If she did the sketch, could the design be hers, as well?

The poor woman also has the dubious honour of having some of the ugliest fakes on her sketches o.O. They're described as originals. I'd be interested if she knew they were on sale.
