Breaking on Through. A John Densmore in person Story.
With all the chatter on here about real or fake autographs, I thought I would share a in person success with you guys. Legendary Rock Drummer John Densmore of The Doors was in town for a day of fun and in person graphing. John is currently on tour in support of his new book The Doors Unchained. I highly recommend if your a fan of The Doors or the Music business.
John was scheduled to do a limited edition book signing and with the purchase of each copy of his book at a local record store. Cool I am in ! But why stop at two autographs :). Thanks to a tip from a good graphing pal I found out he would be doing a talk at a local college prior to the book signing. Perfect opportunity to do some hunting. John spoke for over hour about his career with The Doors and even took questions from the mostly college audience. One of the last people asked if John would sign his album.
John kind of deflected the question and said maybe and thats not really why hes here. It wasnt looking good so far. I was seated front row and as soon as John Got up we hit the stage. John signed maybe 30 autographs before he said I gotta go. Was able to hit him up for a DrumHead DrumStick and a Album flat. Game on ! Next up the book signing.
Plenty of time to spare and 1st stop was to fuel up on lunch ! Was number 34 in line so this wouldnt take long at all. Made my way up to John and he was nice as can be signed my book and the rest of my items which included another Drumhead a few more sticks and flats. He was amazing with everyone and signed everyones items and took pictures with all who asked. No limits ! I am kicking myself for not picking up a few albums in addition to my items.

great work Chris. I am afraid Mr. Densmore will be fed up with any extra signatures by the time I get my shot at him in Long Beach in late May, but it is good he is signing again. He turned down myself and a friend a year ago and told us he no longer signs autographs. I almost told him I no longer buy re-mastered, re-issued, re-invented, re-released Doors albums anymore either, but I would have been lying...I buy them all! Question. I know every bookstore is different but if you purchase 5 books, can you get 5 extra items in addition?

thank you for confirming Chris. I will post and let you know how it goes. Hopefully work will not have me away and I can wrap these Doors items up...or as wrapped up as they will be in my lifetime..D
