I know some of you hate this, but I'm thinking of buying an inscribed baseball and removing the inscription. I REALLY hate inscriptions, so please don't bash me for this. I was just wondering if any of you know how to get rid of an inscription on a baseball. Thanks!

I've never seen a good ink removal from a ball.  Usually does more harm than good.  I think someone posted a Mantle ball on here not too long ago where it appeared that an inscription was "painted" over.  It looked there there were some white spray marks on the laces.  If the ball is snow white it may not look too bad, but if it is discolored or toned it may make it look worse than it being inscribed to someone other than you.  just my two cents.

The ball is nearly snow white, and I swear a lot of inscription removals come out fine. I have no clue to be honest, but I've seen Mantles that have their inscription removed completely. Only problem is if the ball yellowed then you can see the removal. Do you know how they remove it? Eraser?

don't do it Mike.  if it bothers you that much, get another ball.

Agreed. I am 100% against any inscription removal. I feel it completely ruins the history of the piece.

I guess I'll take your advice haha. Seems like a hassle to remove it anyway :P

What exactly is it about the inscription that bothers you so much?  Is it someone else's name?

That and there's another player's autograph who was just insignificant. It's just a personal preference if anything, I like single signed baseballs on the sweet spot unless they're multi signed by multiple greats.

I agree with the other guys Mike.  Leave it alone.  It would make a great conversation piece either way.  Better to talk about the additional signature than an ugly smudge mark.

Just out of curiosity, whose signature is it and whose do you want to remove??

It's a DiMaggio ball with is also signed by Emil Verban who I guess is decent, but I really want a single signed DiMaggio ball

Emil Verban????  THE Emil Verban???

Yeah haha. Never heard of him. Now I'm thinking if I bought it I shouldn't remove it haha
