Hey everyone,

I'm glad to have found this forum as I recently inherited a few of my brothers signed albums.

When my brother was younger he was a "groupie". The had friends that worked in The Nassau Coliseum on LI, NY and friends that worked in Madison Square Garden, so he would get back stage passes and met a lot of bands. Any chance he got he would get them to sign albums.

Since I wasn't there, and I don't know anything about autographs, I am curious if there is any way these are fake or mass produced and given to groupies etc. He told me he got them personally though I don't know for sure.

So, I have two questions. 1. Do they look real? and 2. are they worth anything.

I also have covers from Aerosmith, his favorite band, The Who and Rod Stewart which I will upload at a later time.

Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.

Happy Holidays

Peace

Bad reflection on the first on but the second is a good photo, yes, a lot different than mine.

Thanks for sending them.

They're all fake. And I've seen lots of Queen signatures over the years (and gotten a few myself)

You are saying the ones  Queen Buff put up are NOT good either?

thanks

MArk

Fake as hell

The D's that swing around. Also they appear in the letter. Looks really good. Of course someone with a bit of time on their hand and a bit of research could try to replicate that. But they would have to go slower with the signing and experts can usually tell the difference between a slow signature and a fast one I think.

Plus Freddie didn't always do the strange thing with the D's if you go to freddiemercuryautographs. He always signed a bit different. I wonder if Queen is the type of band where it is really hard to tell? Because I never see anything PSA or JSA verified show up on ebay, whereas you usually see other bands that have a lot of stuff that is.

Late 80s Freddie usually sported the swinging D letters. I've got other examples from mid 80s where he seperated the Ds, but yes, he did change it up a bit over the years. Thanks for the kind words, James. When I look for a Freddie signed item, to ensure it wasn't forged, I look at the speed of the name written. A slowly written name in paint pen is just like one with a common day sharpie, it'll bleed, and stay much too thick and shaky.
And of course, late 80s, mid 80s and certainly 70s style Freddie is different from the 90-91 style. In that, he seemed to pull his letters down to straight lines that remind one of the printed letter font that led zep used to use on album covers.

Lets stir up the pot a little more, here are two other albums from my Brother I was telling you about. What are your thoughts on these.

Arrowsmith and The Who:

Wow,

I have to agree with Kevin, thse do look like forgeries to me as well. And in my opinion, not good ones. I think that the people who gave your brother these graphs was just having some fun with him, or trying to impress him. The Keith Moon is way off compared to what i have seen, as is the Daltrey, Townshend, Tyler, Perry, and others. I feel for you, but at least you didnt spend anything for them

The Aerosmith album is a horrible forgery. Not even close.

The Who isn't much better.

I'm sorry.

Very disappointing, I was hoping at least one of these albums was legit.

I'll see what others think than upload the last two, maybe I'll have better luck with those.

Where does one go to get autographs authenticated? Do any of you do this for a living or are you hobbyists who are doing this by experience?

Most of us are hobbyists with many years of experience. Some are professional authenticators.

I have met the members of Aerosmith many times and over the years they have been very consistent with their signatures. There have been subtle changes and shortenings, but nothing drastic. The album you have does not come close to the members.

I'm actually at Walt Disney World and took a picture of the signed poster at the exit of rock n roller coaster for you to compare to.

In terms of sending these into get authenticated, it would be very expensive. At least $100+ each album. I highly advise to save the money.

Kevin
