Hi Guys and Girls,

Was wondering if anyone could help with this one: W C Handy was the self-penned father of the blues and his handwriting was rather 'flowery' (to say the least!) especially in later life.  I’m wondering if anyone can help decipher what this little piece of text with his autograph says?

Many thanks for any help that can be given.

Looks like personalized to two people to me. Maybe Joseph & Heather. ???

Hi Rick,

Thanks for reply.  Yes, that's a good shout.  I didn't consider it could be 2 names, possibly Josephene for the first one?

Josephine was my first guess. Two female names threw me off.

Yes

You still need some help on this?

Hi, any further help is appreciated.  At the moment the favourite is "Joseph(ene) & Heather".  What are your thoughts?

I would say Josephine and Heather as well

My opinion is the H is actually for a middle name. And the last name starts with E.
That's just going off what I've seen from looking at his other signatures.
It's often a full name with middle initial.
Also odd that this one doesn't say "to" before the name like most do.
