I attached The Doors May schedule, last date on the tour was May 25th In Utah, dates on the contract are the 26th - 28th.  I bought this 10+ years ago when Jim's autograph wasn't worth what it is now, it was a decent chunk of change but NOTHING compared to now.  I remembering being on eBay and seeing 20-30 of them all for 1000-3000, i found this store through eBay but once i found out they were local I took the trip myself.

"Sat. May 25th 1968:  Lagoon Park Patio Gardens -  Farmington, Salt Lake City, UT

    The Doors play an early and late show to very sparse and unexpectedly small audiences.  During the first show Jim asks the crowd - "Where the hell is everyone" and later "Are you all dead out there?  What did you come here for anyway?".  The Doors only play four songs in the early show and the late show is just as disappointing.  People even began to leave during the first show after Jim challenged them to show a little enthusiasm.  During "When The Music's Over", Jim even expounds on the line "We're getting tired of hangin' around" in the early show.  This is the second time The Doors played Salt Lake City - Farmington, and their last!

Late May:  The Doors finally finish The Waiting For The Sun recording sessions and turn their attention to film. "

I did everything I could to verify it was authentic at the time, I bought this as a fan, not a collector, I would be devastated if this were fake, lol.  I'm no expert but I think I have my facts and info together.

The autograph itself looks exactly like all the authentic ones iv'e seen online but again - i'm not expert.  

Also this was signed with a ball point pen that was dry or running out of ink if you cannot tell from the images.

I do want your opinions, I simply analyzed your points and saw a different perspective, sorry if it came off as if i was attacking you for giving your opinion.  I really was curious to know if you are a pro or just big Jim fan, I honestly have no idea, I wasn't trying to put down your statement by asking this. I came here just to find out what it's worth but if there even a remote chance that it's not authentic I will have it looked into again.  It certainly matters to me, it's in my private office where I do not allow many people into, it's no show off piece.

No problem. It's just that I've spent quite a bit of time on this. I'm a longtime Doors collector. I consider myself to be very familiar with his signature and have a fairly large exemplar file that I use for comparison.

I neglected to mention another very unusual characteristic, which is the connection from the "O" to the "N". If you have an exemplar that compares favorably to the signature in question, I'd love to see it. I can't find any.

Ok, good to know.  You never know on the internet, lots of trolls lurking forums, it was clear to me you are a doors fan but I was not aware that you are very familiar with his signature and are a collector.  Other than what you told me, all I know about you is your name is from five to one and you have a Jim Morrison avatar.

This is what I am looking at first (scroll down for link) one is almost an exact match other than the S but the imprint is there just no ink.  The O is even unconnected and leads into the N.  The one in the picture below is a bit sloppier, mine was written a bit more as a signature rather than an autograph if that makes any sense?  A bit more italicized and sharper i guess would be the best way to describe it.  Which i tend to see more on checks, like this one: http://mildequator.com/performancehistory/memorabilia/LKT/cheque1ba...

The one that you're comparing it to doesn't look authentic to me either. I'm referring to the second image. The check endorsement is authentic.

I got it from this site, they seem to know autographs (http://www.collecting-autographs.com/famous-people-list.html).  Regardless you can see the formation on the check, he kind of makes a U which he closes off at the top to form an O.  He then drags the top right of the O and starts his N, ive seen it a billion times, im only giving you the most obvious ones i see. http://imgur.com/VLQ938K

I'm fascinated that you guys seem you can see everything from a picture ESPECIALLY since the pen used to sign in was out of ink or dry.  I have had hand writing specialist analyze this and was told it was certainly Jim.  Your questioning has concerned me though, I am going to have it inspected and certified.  I'll post w/ my results.

You can see clearly the pen used to cross out the dates and making the X were done by 1 person and Jim signed with a different dried out pen.  Why would they do that and have it selling cheaper (because of the fading pen signature) than the Jim Morrison checks they had.  This was no scheme, like a said it was from a big store that had millions of dollars worth of autographs at the time, and over 50k+ positive feedback on eBay (not a single complaint about authenticity).  For someone to go through this whole elaborate plan to trick me doesn't make any sense.... Considering how much more common Jim's autograph's were when I bought this and how much cheaper they were this mastermind plan of the store taking me doesn't make any sense... With all the inspecting and the credible stores certificate of authenticity that went into this, 10+ years later i go on the net and random people tell me it's fake... Something doesn't add up....

You asked for an opinion BASED ON A PICTURE, and you got one. My opinion on the piece is that it also doesn't look authentic. If you are confident in the hand writing specialist who analyzed it, why do you even value our opinion anyway? Not trying to attack you, but you asked for an opinion, you got one from Ballroom who is THE go-to guy (a guy I personally trust 100%) on Doors memorabilia. If you don't like or value his opinion, that's fine...but then we are just beating our heads against the wall here. If you're confident with the piece and the autograph handwriting specialist who checked it out is credible to you, I don't see a problem here...enjoy the piece.

Ya he also said that the autograph from a website that specializes in memorabilia had a picture of a fake autograph on one of their main pages, who the f*** am i to believe?  I'm gonna get it inspected again IN person which i said....  But i also mentioned something doesn't add up, i know the whole history of how and when I bought this, it just doesn't add up to me and i stated why.  Regardless I am going to get it checked IN PERSON for authenticity.  Also this was inspected by more than 1 person, 2 that seemed very pro, first one i went to seemed meh.  

I really didn't come here for an authenticity check, i was 100% certain it was authentic until I came here...  Read my OP....  He may know more than I but there is no way you can be certain from a picture especially with a dry pen, that much I do know.

Ballroom, have you been collecting for over 10 years?  Do you know about what Jim's autograph was going for back then?  I'm new to these forums, i don't know who you people are and who is credible or not...

Look at the S's, they even fade with a pen that isn't dried out, it's just the way he wrote it....
