Since the last Thurman Munson signed photo created such interesting debate, I"m curious as to thoughts on this 1979 signed Thurman Munson Topps card.

I don't like it ( the 79 card) and I am trying to find another Munson signature I came across a while back, that shows the exact same slant, letter formation, and that strange end to the Munson.  That convinced me that this was not authentic, or at least, highly questionable.

Here is another one that PSA passed. what do you think?  1971

Definitely not real.   Another PSA/DNA blunder.

found it!!!

I know present to you the Munson forgeries, all created by an Ohio dealer.

you are just referring to the Munson in this multi-card scan right? The Mantle/DiMaggio look fine IMO...

the mantle, dimaggio and Maris are good

Yes, I was just referring to the Munson.   If I recall, that particular scan was from an Auction house (can't remember which it was).  The consigner probably bought the bad Munson from this Ohio dealer and then presumably the Auction house probably grouped the lot from the consigner, including the good signatures.

Is this from the dealer that sets up at shows and has tubs full of signed baseballs that were used in little league practice? Also binders and binders of signed cards. I remember years ago I found on one of his ebay id's that he was buying buckets of used baseballs on ebay. And what was he selling at shows? Tubs of signed baseballs on the worst used baseballs in the world lol

I don't live in the Ohio area or even attend many shows any more, so I can't comment on that.   (Not sure if this dealer sets up at big shows.)   All I will say is that a number of these originated on E-bay from one particular seller who claimed to have gotten them in person, although others surfaced through other channels and I later found the scans on various auction house websites.   This, of course, suggests the dealer also had another distribution method other than E-bay as I used to watch this dealer very closely and am sure that not all originated through E-bay.

And this forger has even done at least one baseball.

Sadly, several of these have since passed PSA/DNA, although I don't have scanned examples of those mistakes (in the PSA/DNA casing).
