Just wondering how John Mellencamp is about signing?  He is starting a new tour in January and I would like to go to the show and perhaps get an autograph.  Thanks!

He has always been good with me, and some folks I know got him this year , so go for it!

I have to agree with Steve. John have been nice to me the 3 times that I have met him. So you should have a decent chance to get him. Good Luck!

He's pretty good depending on the number of people in front of him. Most of the time, you'll get one rushed sig if there is a large crowd (20+). If there are very few people, you might get 2 good ones. Be forewarned, he grabs the first pen he sees and signs everything with it. If you don't want your stuff signed in red ink, tell the person holding it to ditch it....has a security team around him to keep it civil...sig usually looks like "J Mell...." in a rushed situation, if you get it in a slow downed setting, you'll get full last name..that's my experience.

I agree with the others. My fellow Hoosier Mr. Mellencamp is a good signer.

Thanks guys!  I'm looking forward to the show and hopefully meeting him.  I will let you know.

I had seats right next to his season tickets at IU games a few weeks back, he is typically at every game and of course the time I pay a bunch for amazing seats he does not show! I'm not a huge fan, but I was going to atleast get a picture next to him LOL. I believe he signs TTM through a PO Box in Bloomington, IN.

I managed to get his signature and the one of Meg Ryan a couple of years ago outside his hotel in London. My wife and me were the only one waiting. He was reluctant first and not friendly at all but he eventually signed a poster that I had for a friend of mine (crap and rushed signature). In fact i was so disapointed by his attitude that I didn't even ask him to sign my "Big Daddy" LP cover !

Am I the only one who has an issue with the tone of this comment?

If you are talking about Bruuuce then his comment does not bother me. I think it is ok for us to ask for an autograph and I think it is ok for the celeb to respond however they feel.

Spot on ! I can understand if somebody refuse to sign. I have got a problem when you ask kindly and politely and the reaction you get in return is somebody looking at you as if you were a piece of s*** ! So no thanks, i didn't need his autograph but i'm glad i managed to get one for my friend ... I should have called him Tom or Bruce just to piss him off even more ! Mind you , maybe it would have helped him to smile.... or maybe not ! By the way i know it's irrelevant in this topic but i saw Mellencamp in 87, in Paris, and he was great. One of the best gigs i ever seen. Last time he played London, he did the minimum of the minimum... In fact i  even cannot remember him greeting the crowd when he walked on stage. Sad, really. Still, I like his music a lot...

I have the same issue with John Cougar. Saw him a few times and he has put on great shows every time. The last was about 5 years ago at the Hollywood Bowl with John Fogerty. He is at the Nokia this year, but rumors are that he plays barely over an hour and does a Medley of his hits. People were booing when they left and some left early.

Here's a guy that I haven't met, LOL and have ZERO interest in even running into or being ripped off. He's scratched from my Spicoli tour this year. Sorry Johnny Cougar, you are NO TOM PETTY. Your new songs are not relevant. If you're not going to play ALL your hits, stay home and smoke a few packs of camels. I hope you choke.

A bit harsh ! Remember, he suffered a heart attack a few years ago !
