During the World Cup there were hundreds of eBay accounts popping up every day selling Messi/Ronaldo/Team "signatures" (forgeries) on balls, cleats, jerseys, photos, anything you can think of. I would be EXTREMELY careful when trying to purchase a Messi signature as there is a much greater chance it is a FORGERY rather than authentic.

Authentic Lionel Messi autographs are very scarce and maybe the most difficult alive soccer player. You receive a secretarial signed photo through the mail and we tried more than 10x to obtain his autograph personally without a success. 

In my personal opinion this autograph is unfortunately questionable.

Panini and Topps have issued signed "stickers" autos on card for Ronaldo and Messi (Panini) and Ronaldo (Topps English Premier League)  Do you have any reason to believe that these on card sticker autos may not be genuine (ie "secretarial"?

I have Falcao and a few different players Ive gotten cheap. I see no reason for them to be bad. In regards to Icons Ive mentioned them many times. Just like you would want Upper deck for Jorden/Lebron, to be assured of authenticity I would go to Icons for Messi/Ronaldo.

Panini and Topps are good with making sure the autographs are legitimate.  Don't worry about the authenticity about your signed cards.  Anything else that is signed (balls, jerseys, photographs etc) are in high demand and are usually forged on a large scale.  

I have purchased from many in-person autograph dealers for soccer players, but if I were to want a top player like Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, or Ronaldo from Brazil etc, I'd purchase from Icons.  Yes, you will pay more than what you would if your purchased from an in-person autograph dealer, but the quality of the product + the reassurance that Icons gives is definitely worth the extra money.

Martin, buy from Icons as they are a place where you can pick up one that's real to the best of my knowledge.

Be weary of ANY soccer autographs that claim to be squad/team signed.  Almost all of them are forgeries.

For those who don't know Markus Brandes, he has a top reputation as an honest and professional dealer. His opinions on autograph authenticity are rarely wrong.

But

It's seems odd that anyone would cover any of the signature when framing the photo.

I would think If you have a signed Lionel Messi photo to sell.

you would want to get as much as possible for it.

So you would go to the trouble of framing it properly.
