Hi,

Getting some items signed by a guitarist.

Do I go with the guitar or have him sign the pickguard/scratchplate?

Reluctant to have him sign directly on the guitar in case he smears it or botches it. Then I am out big $ on the guitar. Can't tell if there is a huge value difference in signed guitars vs. Pickguards on guitars.

Also going with black paint pen since most of the sharpie signed guitars seem faded.

Signed on the guitar is way more valuable, if he smudges it you can always remove it afterwards.
Not even close- I collect guitars and generally only buy ones signed on body.
