Dear all,

I am looking for a Sergio Leone (who isn't?) and have stumbled across a few examples, on- and off-eBay. They all appear more or less typical, but his signature is so rare that one needs to be overly cautious. I'd really appreciate the help of people familiar with Leone's signature and/or the following sellers.

1) From ''av-autographs'' (André Volkmann), on eBay. He also has a website, but it is currently closed down (av-autographs.com).

2) VIP Address - Wiggins Collection. Inscription to reputed collector Jim Wiggins.

3) Unknown seller, on a Swiss ''small ads'' website...Source is dubious, photo can't be enlarged...but you never know.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jeffrey,

You just made my day! I bought a club visitor's book at a Zurich fleamarket last year. It was from a 70s Zurich Club (Diagonal) and Sergio is one of the signers. I had a feeling that he must be fairly rare but never properly researched it. Sometimes I'd rather live in blissful ignorance, especially if the item is really special to me, as this book is.

Based on my example, which I will try to post later this week and must be genuine, I would say the third example is the most trustworthy,  even though sloppy. The first one might also be OK but it is very loose indeed. The second one looks quite a bit different to mine so I think I'd pass on that.

Can't wait to see it! Many thanks for your input!

Hi Jeffrey, as a mark of my gratitude and to follow the old saying "don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today" here is my example...

It looks very nice! Flea markets aren't that interesting in Canada, I guess. HOLD ON TO THAT BOOK! :-)

Anyone else is familiar with Leone's signature?

Here's the one I was lucky enough to find in a German used book shop some twenty odd years ago. It's written on the title page of the German edition of Oreste De Fornari's "Tutti i film di Sergio Leone".

Wow, that's a lovely example Volker. I was thrilled to get mine too.

Nice example, Volker!
