Hello All,
This is my first post here - happy to be a member. Curious what fellow collectors think of this item. I find it genuine, shortened (as many are lately), not the best contrast over the drawing (black on black) and interesting that it is inscribed. I am really turned off by blue Sharpie which is mostly what I see and I dislike anything metallic - without breaking the bank and/or going full 70's vintage here this seems to fit my bill (most of what I collect is vintage so fountain or ball point). I am thinking cost was a bit lower here because of the not-stunning contrast, the monotone, it is not the generic blue "cover" of the album but the just first page of the insert (with a less than perfect left edge) and, perhaps, the inscription itself (which I prefer). The age tone is part of the artwork. Any and all opinions appreciated and welcome. I place beneath it a scan of my Roger Waters Pros and Cons promo album from 1984 signed in Toronto IIRC.
Thanks,
Eric
Hi Richard,
I agree - to quote Mr. Gilmour "...not the worst, not the best...". However, it is a little different than the usual cover art and blue ink. Would be nice to see additional recent exemplars to examine. I would be very interested in seeing the item you mentioned - I have sent a friend request in which I think you can send a scan.
Best wishes and thank you,
Eric
Dear Richard!
Gilmour'll be here in Brazil in December for a series of shows.
I wonder if he's autographs or is a difficult person for this.
All the best !!!
He is not signing during tours. :( I heard about people who met him during European leg, but noone got an autograph - he denies that. :(
Very bad this news! :(
Be prepared to be stunned if you are going to see him. Concert is truly A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! ;)
Hello Peter C.
Thanks! You saw the show? How was Time? I will be prepared! Very. Seeing him at MSG from very good seats - my preferred. I saw some of the current visuals and they seem truly superlative. I lost a good deal of my hearing due to him in years past, but it was...worth it. "Shows" today seem to be much less powerful and even mono compared to the old Floyd - or I lost more than I thought! But, I won't wear ear protection. Nick Mason also removes his when the solo starts is C. Numb. - you need those screaming highs! :)
Best wishes & thanks,
Eric
I have never seen Pink Floyd (as I was born in mid 80s) - so I cant compare it. But I saw Dark Side & The Wall Tours of Roger Waters and I saw the first show of European tourleg in Croatia..... and it was definately one of best shows of my life - I (and also my friends from our local PF fanclub) was stunned how much better it was compared to RW´s tours (no disrespect to RW´s shows - they are great!). It was probably the most emotional show of my life.
The show had 2 and half hour plus about 20 minutes break between sets. It was open-air show in romanian amphitheatre - so it wasnt as loud as in dome or standard arena, so I cant say how loud it´s going to be in MSG..... Really dont know.
You can check couple of my pictures from this show in my personal gallery. :)
Hi Peter,
without changing this thread, do you remember the quadraphonic effects in the Waters Dark Side only used between Money and Us and Them" (those conversations - on YouTube you'll find them) :
"HuHuh! I was in the right!"
"Yes, absolutely in the right!"
"I certainly was in the right!"
"You was definitely in the right. That geezer was cruising for a bruising!" "Yeah!"
"Why does anyone do anything?"
"I don't know, I was really drunk at the time!"
"I was just telling him, he couldn't get into number 2. He was asking why he wasn't coming up on freely, after I was yelling and screaming and telling him why he wasn't coming up on freely. It came as a heavy blow, but we sorted the matter out"
Well, All Floyd shows were like that for every instrument for the entire concert!
Best wishes,
Eric
Hello All,
I heard from the people I needed to in order to confirm this as a genuine Gilmour and it is as I suspected. Totally fine. I note that for 2006 On An Island Tour sigs this is quite legible. Not all from this period resemble the usual "Gilmour" but this comes closer than most from '06.
Eric
