Many of you kind guys helped me with the purchase of George, Ringo and Paul's signatures a couple of weeks ago. I said I would be looking for a John to go with them. Any thoughts on this one? Does the fact that it was sold through Christies previously actually mean anything?

I don't recall his written things ever been considered scarce-as you say he is well known for being friendly in signatures (even signed for his assassin day before). This is the first place I ever heard it.
And in a curious twist of fate, some of the greatest rockers are some of the first-hi Dylan, Beatles, Stones-In fact so early in rock history that they didn't know the value of their lyrics sheets etc. So if you have the money (millions) you can get their handwritten stuff to some of their greatest songs.
This is not true for most musical geniuses after perhaps 1975. By them musicians recognized their value
perhaps you should read the content of the statement. the "scarcity" was related to the fact that Lennon signed for the other Beatles in this specific example, not the "scarcity" of the Lennon signature. anybody that studies Beatles signatures is well aware of Lennon's generosity while he lived in NYC.
I was replying to tony Kunz statement about NYC post 1975. I don't think John was signing for the other Beatles then
Sling, I was replying to Mr. Kunz' comment about "This idea that he didn't sign much is total rubbish. Folks who are signature experts should stick to saying yes or no on authentication rather thank speculating about signing habits of celebrities."
Since I was the one that mentioned the scarcity of the item, and since Mr. Kunz seemed so concerned about accuracy, I wanted to explain to him that the item in question was a Beatles set, ENTIRELY in the hand of John Lennon.
Perhaps many of them have been floating around NYC, but I had never seen one before.
I will say this, I would love to have a beatles set of signatures by lennon.
It represents such an innocent time to what was to come in band dynamics. And as you say there bay be only what 30 of em out there?
btw I did go to the posted link where there was a lot of beatlebilia, Could not find piece in question
its because this discussion is 3 years old. the link has been removed.
