I got this because it has a Japanese word that also is a title to one of lennon's solo songs

Although quite few of this type of notes to assistant do exist this one just doesn't grab me as authentic in the same way that many of them do. It's tougher without a signature to check but If I had to make a call I personally would not buy it unless it has a COA from a very respected authenticator.

are you saying the handwriting doesn't appear to be by lennon?

Usually I'm pretty confident with John Lennon, even with stuff from his solo years but I'm not confident about this piece although there have been a few such notices for his assistant (presumably Fred seaman) that are genuine.

I do feel a bit under pressure as it appears that you have already bought it so please keep in mind that it's only my opinion. Although it doesn't scream 'fake' to me like many pieces do I would seek other opinions if you personally have any doubts, as you are on this forum or from one of the respected authenticators like Tracks, FC or Perry Cox or RE.

Thanks. I do own it but have no good providence on it (bought at auction) It was alleged to be for Fred.

Maybe some others on this site will chime in. If not real then is a very imaginative forgery. Not being signed makes it difficult but there is quite a bit of handwriting there to study

That's the thing with a believable story, it could be just that or it could be created by somebody with a bit of knowledge to make something believable.

I've even had people spin me incredible stories about how they met The Beatles in 1965 and got their autographs. The story wasn't true because the autographs were genuine but from early 1963!

Here are a couple of samples from notes to Fred Seaman or other assistants that I am confident about.

Thanks for the exemplars.

Dating signatures is so advanced. A new thread has been set up here on this subject which I will sign up for.

Do you have knowledge of Mick Jaggar writing? Can his writing be dated too?

I think with The Beatles the development in their signatures was rapid and pretty obvious.

Anyway, hopefully some others will chip in with an opinion of their own, in this case I would be more than happy to be wrong.

Unfortunately I only really put my focus on Beatles autographs so I would not consider my opinion on Mick Jaggers writing to have any value.
