Hello,

I'm new to this group, and this is my first time posting. I've seen a lot of discussion in the past about Thurman Munson, and I have this 4"x5" autographed B&W photo that I obtained from a NY area dealer in the early 1980's. I was thinking about taking it to PSA for authentication and encapsulation, but I was hoping to get a sense from this group of whether it seems likely to be authentic. It appears to have been signed in black Flair pen, rather than sharpie, which would seem consistent with Munson's time of death. Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks!

It’s not good.

Someone just tried to copy from this  (and even this looks atypical)

Yes, I saw that too but I am not familiar with Munson's autograph.

I’ve owned half dozen or so of him over the years.

No sports here, apart from Gleason and his pool playing. ;-)

I do remember when Munson died.

Is the comp you posted authentic?

I wouldn’t buy it. I simply think the one you posted was mimicking it.

It’s atypical to me. *could the comp be real? Could be. I just prefer other examples that I’m confident in.

Not mine but real for comparison

I agree that the one in the OP is not authentic.  The one Doug posted is authentic from the early 70's.  The second one he posted is also authentic, but a little later prob mid 70's.  I have owned several Munson signatures and I still have 3 in my collection.
