I personally do not like the Judy Garland at all. JMO.

Hello,

Oh no, that is not Garland. No way. It is all wrong. All of it. This 4'11" 110 lb woman often signed like a scatterbrained underfed frantic butterfly - too much ink here without even discussing form, which is totally incorrect for the period this is attempting to represent (or any period).  Every letter here betrays this signature, individually. I have owned many superb Garlands (technically "garlands" from C. 1944 on) which you can find on this site. Do not buy this is what I can say.

Below is a typical...actually a rather nice example of her signature from the period C. 1965 - and a fine example I daresay and on a portrait (for some reason if you click ion it it is sharper although not larger). Examine for obvious differences. The other signature on the left is vintage Mark Herron - her husband at the moment, I think the one right before Mickey Deans. I had the ticket for this as well - with a review written on the reverse in microscopic ballpoint. I think this matinee ticket was $1.25.

Very nice looking Judy signature, Eric. Love her!

Thanks Joe. Above is another for your interest - 1960 if I recall correctly. It is IMO very strong, typical and clean/clear for a Garland.

Best wishes,

                    Eric

Outstanding!

Thank you Joe and Eric! You have confirmed my suspicions about this item.

Hello,

You are welcome. :) The biggest thing I see is the opposing angles of the "J" and "g" and the underscore coming from the wrong side, but is all bad.

Eric

I think this Judy Garland autograph is real.

Any thoughts.

It is for sale on ebay until tomorrow.

1965? No way.

Don't know the date

This is for sale now and I do not want to mislead anyone.

You can tell a minimum date just from the interior photographs. The little photo on the page with her story is about 1961 and was used by her fan club with an autopen that sells too often on eBay. This signature appears much too legible and strongly applied to be Judy IMO, especially in the 60's.

Here is a link to a database of exemplars. Look at her hand in the 1960's especially:
