Another Fake Being Misrepresented with a Steiner Cert.

This cancer is really growing quickly.  Now Probstein123, and ebay power seller is listing a horrible forgery of a McGwire/Sosa signed ball with a fake Steiner cert.  And because it is a powerseller with a very high feedback rating, and because the Steiner name, at least for now, is still equated with authenticity, this piece of garbage is actually attracting interest.

Here is an authentic Mac/Sosa ball from the Steiner site:

Here is the junk being listed by Probstein123:

Even a novice collector can tell the difference.  Numerous attempts have been made to alert Steiner to this rapidly growing forgery issue.  We can only hope that behind the scenes, they are trying to do something about it.

This madness will never end until companies like Steiner Sports become proactive and start taking action.

So far, it looks like Steiner Sports doesn't care.

That company kills me.  They charge an arm and a leg for their stuff and don't bother to back it up.

I know...it's like this is how you wanna run your business? Too each their own! But then they deserve what they get if they don't be proactive like someone else said!
You would think that if people are using their holo for fakes they would care? But whn their charging what they do..they don't care cause they've been making millions as is. I wonder if they're trade on the Nasdaq like the grading companies/authenticators? Anyone know?
Is there a hologram on the ball?

There probably is, but Brandon will just claim that without the Steiner letter or certificate, the sticker means nothing.

The pictures in the eBay listing show a Steiner sticker and credit card style COA.
Yeah I guess there's no way to tell if it's actually on the ball until you buy it. Probstein is a big consignment seller, he/she sells anything and everything including fakes and legit high end items.
Agreed, but I presume Probstein takes the photos for the listing, and I don't think they would mess around by using a photo of a Steiner sticker from another ball.
I suppose anyone can buy a real one from steiner, take the hologram and COA and sell them with a fake. The same could be said for PSA or JSA as well, I'd bet the average ebay buyer won't look too closely at the photo on the LOA, or you can strategically take the photo of the LOA so it's impossible to tell the balls are different, or if the forgery is close enough some people might not even be able to tell. Someone would buy it.

PSA stickers (and MLB stickers) break apart if they're removed. I'd assume the same is true of the JSA stickers, but I'm not positive.

Steiner holograms are supposed to be tamper proof as well, we all see how well that works :)
