I am looking to purchase from a guy that got this hat from Juliensauctions.com.  I want to know if the hat is rare since it has Michaels name in gold and what you guys think of the signature.

Hope you can help,

I'd get Roger Epperson's opinion on this.
I do not believe this one (in my opinion) is authentic.  Besides the shape of the signature being wrong these hats were signed on the underside of the brim.  He donated to charities for fundraising events.  It does have the "Michael Jackson" name on the inside rim but this could easily be done or could be a left over.  This signature attempt also is quite rushed and everyone I have ever seen has been signed perfectly and un-rushed.  It's just my opinion but it is an educated one.
Thanks Steve and Robert for your help.

Scott Pernice wrote..."my goal is to clean up the reputation of antiquities"...

My oh my....wait till Toby gets whiff of that...

Yes, because according to everyone on here we have a bad reputation. I have stated that everything I sell is authentic. This is what gets me about this site, it really is all about attacking people!! I came in here, KNOWING everyone would react as such, yet kept my composure.

BTW Don, antiquities LV is a completely separate business and is owned completely separate from AOC. I work for AOC so I believe the correct response have been "Wait till Brian gets a whiff of this"
The profit margin is very small when legitimate companies like Tracks uk buy an authentic signed Beatles lp,because the albums are worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Scott,

We are keeping our composure, too.

Scott...Brian is Toby's son....yes ??

You state that "everything you sell is authentic", however you also say you do not have experience in authentication.

I will say I do like your honesty in explaining that you are a framer by trade. I respect your candid nature.

However, you must admit since you are relying on so many other opinions that you yourself do not exactly know what you have is real or fake?

People on this board spend thousands of dollars on authentic pieces. They do their homework and our in fact knowledgeable.

I think that people would love to buy from you if they thought what you are selling was authentic. I think you need to hire an honest person who isn't worried just about getting the highest margin for selling junk to uneducated buyers, but someone who wants to deal in legitimate pieces.

I hope that you taking the time to even post on this site means you really wish to listen. Thanks for participating.

Were any music items pulled during the three months you spent removing items that you didn't believe were real? Did you spend any time comparing signatures to known authentic exemplars and to ones previously sold by Antiquities? If you really want to know the truth and truly want to clean up the reputation of Antiquities, that would be a good place to begin. Start with all of the “fully-signed” Doors LPs and 45s. I’ve seen only one Doors LP that was authentically signed by Morrison, and no 45’s. However, I’ve seen at least seven(!) from Antiquities, including three fully-signed copies of “Morrison Hotel” and two of “Waiting For The Sun.” You’ll find that there was some effort put into the Morrison signatures, but very little into the signatures of the other three members, and that the framing materials you used are actually worth more than the items that were framed.

That's correct Ballroom, there would be no margin for profit after the framing if the lp's were genuine signatures.

Scott I'll admit you are one hell of a framer! If you are trying to clean up Antiquities you are going against their business model. For 10 years they have been making a huge profit on each piece. So you are going to find a new supplier that sells legit items and make a small profit on each piece? Don't think so. Rent at Fishermans Wharf can't be cheap. You are taking advantage of being one of the busiest tourist destinations in the country, with little repeat business. People buy there on vacation, hang it on their wall, enjoy it the rest of their lives. Or so you hope.
