Plan on going back to Steel City this August, and was...surprised when the Celeb Price List was published. George Takei (Sulu) is listed at $80 photo/$100 photo op, which is what William Shatner was…Continue

Both of these were personally witnessed. The first from January 1975, and yes I gave him a ball-point pen. I was young and stupid then. The second is from April 2019.Continue

"Another lousy photo of two more, these in jewel boxes. (Parton box is damaged, but I'm reluctant to replace it because of the "Enhanced CD" sticker. Bottom is musician Rosie Thomas, who signed her debut album.)"

"Neither. There are...oh, heck, let me show you so you understand why I can not put these things in a vinyl holder. (This is my fault, because I also have other CDs with jewel boxes signed on the booklets.) The sleeves for the Donovan CDs are coated…"

"FWIW, I bit the bullet and did it anyway. He was perfectly nice, polite, and all that, and I have to say has the neatest handwriting of anyone in my collection. Still, Lea Thompson and Karen Allen for the win that trip. My daughter got Jason Isaacs…"

Three-ring Binder Pages for CDs

You folks have helped a lot in getting my collection organized and relatively safe, but now I have another question about safe storage.I have a few autographed CDs. I have some old Fellows three-ring binder sleeves for CDs...I am almost certain they are vinyl, so I'm a little reluctant to use them, even for the CDs in jewel boxes. Can I assume you would recommend staying away from them even for jewel-boxed CDs?Then there are the paperboard-packaged (and unopened) Donovan CDs ("Shadows of…See More

"No. But convention autograph pricing is rarely related to "what the autograph is worth." It's usually multiples of fair market value. But as long as people pay it, they'll keep charging it."

"A lot of autographs that just a few years ago were $25 - 40 are now much, much higher. Depends on the con and the market. I'm guessing Takei or his rep/team decided he could charge more given his continuing popularity and age. "

George Takei really worth Shatner-level prices?

Plan on going back to Steel City this August, and was...surprised when the Celeb Price List was published. George Takei (Sulu) is listed at $80 photo/$100 photo op, which is what William Shatner was getting last convention. That pricing explains why they put together another VIP package at $250, but seems to me the two are on somewhat different levels...should be interesting to see the number of VIP armbands this convention vs. last (where I admit the Mrs. and I both wore those blue special…See More
