Looks like "My thanks, James Brown." He usually wrote "God Bless" or something similar, though I'm not sure what he's written underneath his name.

Just a update. I asked for a quick Roger Epperson opinion and he said it looks fine.

Jim, I think you are right about "My thanks, James Brown". Maybe the text underneath his name says "Soul B" (as Soul Brother).

I actually won the action on Ebay at about $98, so I think it was a very good price. The photo about 10*12 inches - you can see the whole photo here:

It might be, but sometimes James' 'Gs' can look an awful lot like his 'S':

That may very well be a "God Bless" at the bottom of the OP's example.
