I'm not seeing any price gouging here....
Well that's pretty Laughable - so selling a print that other equally or even more famous artists would sell for £25.00 (or some even give away for free!) and the Queen store selling for £150.00 isn't price gouging then i don't know what is??
It obviously sold out due to all the ebay idiots trying their luck! A few sellers on ebay already with 4 or more copies each for sale !
Price-gouging is a term usually applied in a short-term, localised scenario — such as in the wake of a natural disaster — and usually refers to the sale of essential commodities necessary to sustain life, such as food, clothing, shelter, etc., at prices vastly inflated above the market norm. Art is a non-essential luxury, and there is no accepted norm as far as price is concerned — it entirely depends on the artist in question and what the market will bear. As such, the sale of art doesn’t fit any meaningful criteria for the term price-gouging.
I understand that you are upset at the price of the print, but it comes down to a simple choice at the end of the day. You have chosen to vote with your wallet, which is your prerogative.
If you want to live in a free market economy then you have to accept that people are free to resell certain commodities on the secondary market — in this case eBay. If, as you maintain, the print is overpriced then those copies made available on the secondary market won’t sell for inflated prices.
There’s a great example of this process at work right now on eBay:

This David Bowie artist’s proof was sold at public auction, in August 2021, for £3,200 plus fees. A total of £4,160. Personally, I feel the sale price was more than the item is worth, but the buyer clearly feels otherwise as he has been trying to flip the artwork on eBay for up to £5,999. So far, no one has bitten because the consensus is that it’s overpriced. That’s market forces in effect for you.
The folks behind the Queen website won’t feel they overpriced the Roger Taylor print today. They’ll see a sell-out in two hours and consider the exercise a success. I agree with that analysis.
My that's a long reply - I couldn't care less! I have my small Roger Taylor 'Signed Art Print coming for £10.00 and not £150!!
As for 6K David Bowie Artist proof - no doubt worth every penny to somebody! Just not me! I've got better use of my money than wasting it on tat like that!
5816nick - condescending isn't the way to go when the vast majority of your posts are pointless negativity if not you outright blowing a gasket over something that isn't precisely as you please. Take it down notch or two. It's getting pretty tiresome.
To say it's price gouging is ridiculous. It is a business as anything else and there will always be people or fans willing to buy at that price. Remember the law of supply & demand. If you think it's price gouging, you have you're own right not to buy anything from him or buy somewhere else.
not at all - It's blatant price gouging! But what do i know LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
As an earlier poster suggested - Meet him in person and get his signature for free !
OK let me make arrangements to go meet him in person. I'm sure is a doddle. LOL
He's been signing at venues on the current tour - footage on YouTube of him signing in Newcastle for example. Cheaper to buy a ticket and take something to get signed. ;)
My Signed Art Card Arrived, it’s 4.5” LP arrived with corner sink, art card slight crease where it was rattling around loose in a Jiffy bag against the cd and tape!
