I understand that we cannot imagine this from someone who is such an icon.  Yet is hard to believe she did not know about this anything about this.  This is the only time I purchased something from her since it was coming from the publisher and I am really disappointed in Dolly.

She knows less about the current release of her own product than we do? I don't believe it. That would mean she never heard about the other times she did this. I don't believe it.

We need to know if she had to sign something special to make a template or if it can be "lifted" off something already signed.

I implied it was "possible" she doesn't know, not that it is necessarily "probable".

Another possibility is that she signed some personally, and then her staff autopenned the rest.

Or, she might have approved the whole scheme.

As far as I know, an autopen template is made from a signature on paper, without any special object having to be signed to create the template.

If she didn't, if she doesn't know, where does she think they came from? She would want to know.

If she signed a limited number where does she think the rest came from? She would want to know.

If she approved the whole thing I care less for her than I did before, and I was no fan then.

She must be aware of the 3 other times she did this. I know where my name is used - she doesn't?

With managers like Skooter Braun... I think it could be possible. Dolly has so many aspects of her business that, at her age, she might be paying someone to make a lot of decisions for her. Especially when it comes to small things like products. How many items does she sell at Dollywood alone?

I agree.  She has a huge marketing empire. These books and CDs/records are just a tiny aspect of it.

Either she or someone on her team went all in for autopens. Unless someone confesses, we may never know who it was.

Celebrities presumably don't shop for their own merchandise. Dolly might not have a clue what is being sold under her name.

Or maybe she's the devil in a blonde wig and she's out to rip off as many fans as possible. Who knows.

But when I wrote to her I gave her the benefit of the doubt so as not to insult her. I allowed for an honorable way for her to react.

Since others have been linking to this thread in their communications, it might be nice if the suspicion and accusations against Dolly Parton were kept to a minimum.  We all have our suspicions and for good reason, but people are still trying to get a positive outcome.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been working on the overlay thing with my two examples below (Songteller is mine). I’m telling you, they line up when overlaid. It was a crushing feeling when I saw them come together lol, but left no doubt.

Posting the examples together if anyone wants to give it a shot. I’m trying to get a good screenshot of the merge but having trouble with quality and don’t want to post something that could be picked apart…never done all this before.

That's a really insidious deception if done on purpose - the "t" has a slight difference due to the page being moved slightly as the signature was being completed.

Things like that allow the bookseller or publisher to believe that they are not "identical".

That, and the thicker pen causing some supposed differences such as closer spacing, etc.

Right…it seems like they put an effort into disguising the autopen. The black marker is thicker- creates different spacing and fills in some of the loops.

Strangely though, there is clearly a space between the “P” and the “a” of Parton on the black, while no space on the Songteller.

I believe this was explained previously- that the paper or pen can be manipulated in the midst of signing to create apparent differences.

what do you think of this? i don’t know how autopenn looks on back and not familiar with autooenned stuff . help is appreciated

Looks autopen signature as the others unfortunately.
