Who the heck is Mickey Mantl?

If it were not for the PSA/DNA seal of approval I'd be worried?

Any thoughts?

Just curious how often he would sign like this?

I'm sure PSA has the exemplars.

Would he just not finish off the "e" when rushed?

Any help would be welcome.

This is not the typical Mantle autograph...I have seen this exact picture of this exact ball being sold on eBay some time ago and being sold with a PSA cert ...iam not sure if the original buyer is trying to flip it or if the seller is selling the same relisted item over and over again...I don't like it..it has good and bad characteristics and that alone would make me personally stay away..any time something seams fishy or there is a gut feeling about it not looking 100%...in my experience its not genuine...

Here is a PSA/DNA that I strongly suspect is fake.

The Mickey is all wrong. Slant is off... formation is not right. The Mantle looks better, but the whole thing appears to be slowly written.

On eBay now.

Thoughts?

Yeah Mr.Zipper...I agree slant definitely plays part in an auto if it is the real deal or not...that Mickey "M" looks off...but I see no signs of tremors or shakes...no signs of stop and start marks in the ink flow..I do agree that the slant of the auto seams at a much more drastic pitch then usual...but that "Mantle" portion is perfect in every sence...I can't see a forger getting one half of an auto bad and another half of the auto spot on...its usually all bad as a whole...I don't know...this may be one of many autos the Mick had to pump out from a huge stack photos in one sitting which may have made this particular piece look the way it does...if it wasn't for the "Mantle" portion being so correct I would think it was a suspect piece...

I agree. I have never seen the M so straight up, always a very consistent slant.

it all depends where and when at under what circumstances it was written in. You can't be conclusive.

I think its good...this may also been a standing up rushed auto...not a typical sit down flat level auto of a picture being signed on a flat surface right in front of the Mick...possibly an auto he signed for a fan being caught off guard on a clip board...thats why I think the auto is pitched the way it is...I don't see the typical signs that can be instantly pointed out by a forgers hand of ink that stops and starts or other obvious characteristic of a drawn signature...nor does it have the typical style of a Mantle forgery...I think this particular auto is a freebee a fan got which is why the pitch of the auto is the way it is and was signed with less finesse as what a paid for wait in line auto the Mick would have produced...that's my take on that particular item...

Hey Steve...If I remember correctly the 100 bill was slabbed by PSA...I cropped it prior to posting it...it was authenticated and was deemed authentic...I may have to look for the original pic in my photos if I saved it after I cropped it...
