Welcome to Author-Direct signed books, a new forum inspired by Musician-Direct Autograph Sales.
You can start using it now, but let's discuss how to organize it, and rules:
Feel free to start posting discussions but please do give your opinions here if you have some.
Thanks,
Steve

The thing I was annoyed about was being spammed about the argument postings in the forum. That problem stemmed from the post about Melania having dignity (an opinion on a divisive political figure) - which prompted other people to state negative opinions about her. The moderation team rightly removed the negative comments but did not remove the positive ones (which caused the arguing posts to continue due to a percieved double standard in moderation).
I didn't see that as especially caustic in the context, but I'll get rid of it if you like.
I'm not sure how you couldn't see it as relevant in the context - half of the deleted negative posts referenced it directly (to be fair, you may not have been the moderator that removed them).
This is not gonna work. The parties that caused this need to be corrected other wise it will devolve. Save yourself the headache and mute or ban
You're talking to the wrong person about that. I have no such ability to mute or ban anyone.
No political opinions and instead of locking threads when it is done just mute or Ip ban the person or persons responsible
We were lucky I think to get Steve Z's opinion on the Melania book signatures - did anyone have any comment in his opinion and observations?
I actually didn’t see that. I saw he had posted on the Clinton thread which was btw removed instead of moved over here - appreciate that!
No problem. :-)
I like the idea of a new discussion forum.
I think political books should be allowed, but political opinions and discussion should be kept off the discussion boards. Post a store, a description and maybe the price and/or release date. But that's it. Otherwise, a valuable discussion board turns into people throwing feces at each other and distracts from the discussion's actual purpose-helping collectors to help each other.
I think that the music-related books should stay in the music category. Otherwise people may miss interesting books from music artists/performers. If people aren't checking the book category they could miss out on musicians they like. Maybe allow musicians in both Author-Direct Signed Books and Music-Direct Autograph Sales just so it can reach the most people. That, and because some musicians are also writers/actors/activists. Some people are hard to classify.
Personally, I think the board's rules for politics and religion should be the same as they would be for a polite dinner party. Leave the political and religious opinions at the door. It would make things more civil. If people can't respect that-then mute or ban them.
I would understand the photo thing if it was a reseller or For Trade board. But if posting a link for a book at BAM, or Barnes & Noble, or other retailers, I'm not sure the link would provide any info not found by clicking a link.
That's just my take on it.
Any authenticity discussions should maybe be on a separate forum to avoid clutter. Otherwise, things like Bob Dylan, Millie Bobby Brown, Jelly Roll or Melania Trump end up monopolizing the forums for days and/or weeks.
I agree it’s not ideal for a discussion about autopen or potential autopen to clog up an existing thread. Dylan and Bon Jovi ended up with their own autopen threads, which has been used as a potential solution. I thought about breaking off the Melania discussion into a thread but didn’t out of concerns that………someone would complain lol (she’s not a musician, not confirmed as autopen, doesn’t need own thread, etc). So the place to post was non-musician as I saw it.
