Be careful ordering old stock from Rough Trade. Some of the sold out items appeared as available on the new site but this has been an error in 3 of my cases. I love the team at RT UK and they rectified their mistakes but the new site is full of errors. Always reach out to the team by phone in relation to old stock. Just a friendly warning.
Just saw this and was curious if this was an official Autograph live twitter page, a member that started it up, or just yet another person stealing our posts and posting them elsewhere. It's just my opinion, but taking stuff we post here and putting it on Twitter just makes it more likely that members of the forum will miss out.
I don't follow most socials but I see posts on here show up like clockwork on Reddit. Any ideas on how to mitigate this to help AL members who actually put the time and effort into finding signed items?
not really unless it became more of an exclusive forum that you had to pay for, if it could go back to the way it was a couple of years ago I wouldn't mind paying to be a member. it used to have more of a community feel with members helping each other, but so many people have found out about it and now and not only are all the dealers watching it, but also all these people that want to feel like they did something by reposting stuff that as you said, we put the time and effort into finding. i check Twitter a lot, and sometimes Redditt, and more times than not anything we post shows up on one or both places within minutes.
I don’t use social media much but I have to think it’s a fairly symbiotic relationship, the posts that come here can’t all originate directly from the artists
I'd be welcome to any and all ideas Joel, I know this came up last year or the year before about RACC FB grabbing posts from here within minutes and letting dealers or flippers crush stocks of the items buying 10 or 20 or more at a time. I understand that's some people's MO, but there's many contributors here who never even get the chance to purchase something if they didn't post it themselves. I'm sure this will upset the flippers/dealers but I really don't care, plus I'd rather first help out the people who put the time and energy into posting here they way they've helped me in finding items. Kind of the old adage "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." It's a great community here, I'm just not a fan of the grab a post and blast it across 20 different sites type behavior. I don't have as much time as I used to to find items to post but I'm still able to squeak out a few every week or two. There's literally a few hundred websites to check not including individual artists releasing on their own websites. It's 100% a group effort and I really do appreciate those who take it upon themselves to help others here in all manner of things, authentication, advice on collecting, identifying fraudulent dealers or posting new items or restocks. This website helps tons of people. That's just my 2 pennies.
