Reply from Blackwell's - Allow me to clarify that the matter of price difference is that the copy at cost £25 is published by Simon & Schuster UK, which is a UK publisher, and the one at cost £35 is published by S&s/Summit Books, which is a US publisher.

Other than that, no difference was stated between the 2 copies.

Also response from Waterstones this morning as we suspected: "These were made available for Plus customers yesterday at midday. Due to the small number of copies and the popularity of the item, it sold out before we were able to promote it on our website and social channels."

How very odd! Not sure I'm buying that explanation as the justification for the difference in price. Why are they even marketing the US edition?

Normally, new books published in the UK and in the USA & Canada are pretty close on retail prices. British customers buying a book from Blackwell's would normally prefer a UK edition, due to differences in spelling etc. I could understand it if their pricing was reversed (i.e. the American edition was cheaper.

Fishy. I think I will order one of these, just in case.

A number of independent bookshops do sell regional variations of certain big-ticket books. I know up here in Ontario, there's a bookshop in Windsor (Biblioasis) that routinely sells UK/US variant editions for certain Canadian authors.

Those books are typically sold at a premium (though honestly, if I'm going to pre-order a UK/US version of a book I want, I'll just go through a regional publisher like B&N, Chapters (Canada) or Waterstones/Foyles/Blackwells (UK)).

That would be amazing, I know a couple shops had Cher signed memoirs available for preorders, but ultimately they were never shipped. Hopefully this pops up everywhere and is readily available.

Yeah as soon as I saw the website name I thought about the Cher thing as well. As of right now Waterstones and gayprideshop have dropped lmao does that make sense to anyone? I’m gonna just hazard a guess that gay pride ends up cancelling orders due to allocation issues
