The OP examples have to be right.

Absolutely correct.

I just am not attracted by the eye appeal. They are somewhat "lifeless" for some reason. The date indicates Leigh was still playing Blanche at the Aldwych (since October), having been hand selected by Williams earlier, and was just about the start shooting the film version in August of 1950, having secured the role from Jessica Tandy IIRC. But w/o the envelope this is lost.

And thank you for the nice comments about my items :-)

michelle, these are nice and solid examples.  I like them.  They will display nicely, in my opinion.

Based on the image, that envelope may not even have anything to do with the collection of those autographs originally.  Could have been something they were just stored in for convenience over the decades.

p s. If the price is right, so much the better! 😉

A envelope mailed from Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh's London residence, Durham Cottage on Christchurch Street, Chelsea, in 1950, would have a Chelsea S.W.3 postmark as this envelope does.It is circumstantial but supportive.

It is just a 20-30 minute drive from the theatre in Aldwych to Durham Cottage in Chelsea so I can see them making that nightly if they chose.

I know a bit more about this lot now due to an off thread conversation about it.  It's a nice set and the authentic autographs are fine.

I can see they are authentic, I just don't find them strong examples, and w/o any context etc.
