I have done a personal research to validate this "Official Baseball Scorecard" printed by the B.F. Steinel Publishing Company displaying AL and NL game results for May 9,1927.  The back of the card is stamped "Property of Henry Radosta" who lived his entire life in the Racine County WI area from 1894-1973.  There is also a handwritten reference on the back of the card to a dance arrangement to be played in the key of "F" for the Fox Trot.  The few of these that I have tracked down in other collectons all seem to have reference to the "Fox Trot" as well, but only one other contains autos.  The autographs on the front of the card include "Babe" Ruth, Gehrig and seven other Hall of Famers all signed in pencil.

Have attached pics of key autos.  Any opinions about the autos would be helpful and greatly appreciated--Also any ideas about where I could look next to research the reference to the Fox Trot  would be really awesome as well.

Thanks a bunch and what a great site.

You can't go wrong with Rich Simon.

Priddy/ACE sets up at card shows (or at least they have in the past). It's possible someone with legitimate material could submit something to them. In my opinion, ACE has a high percentage of clunkers, but I have seen a number of legit items as well.

Well I will let you all know.. One other thing I was wondering is if anyone has ever seen an authentic signature or two with forgeries added later?  It would be a really, really stupid thing to do, in my opinion, but I don't think anyone attempting to forge anything is the sharpest tool in the shed.  The reason I ask this is that there are at least four signatures on this scorecard that look really good to my very untrained eye.  There are four others that could go either way, and there is one that just is way off.  Would someone be so dumb to screw up an authentic piece with four genuine signatures with others thinking the value would increase by that much????

if anyone has ever seen an authentic signature or two with forgeries added later?

Yes. It's not uncommon. Greed is an amazing thing... I've seen good and valuable signatures ruined because someone had to add one more person (a fake) to complete the set, thus making the item potentially more valuable.

Then there's the opposite: Someone unknowingly buys a forgery and has the item legitimately signed by others.

A member here bought a Beatles single supposedly signed by John Lennon from the famous celebrity freelance photographer Vinnie Zuffante. He spent 20 YEARS getting Ringo, George and Paul. The problem is, Zuffante was a known forger of Lennon autographs--perhaps others, too.

It's a heartbreaking story that we featured in "Autograph" in 2009 I believe. Until he sent me the images he had no idea Lennon was bad. I'm not sure he believes it today.

Imagine spending 20 years getting three Beatles and finding out you were screwed on the one when you bought it.

There was a guy on CollectSpace who recently posted his Apollo 11 crew signed item. He bought the Armstrong and then paid $1,000+ to complete with Collins and Aldrin. Ouch. The Armstrong was bad.

That's more than "Ouch!" Where did he get it?

I don't recall exactly. I'm thinking ebay but not sure.  It wasn't a well known dealer to my recollection.

a friend of mine sent me some photos of a 500 hr ball he purchased, with something like 18 signatures. it had Sheffield, Bonds, McGwire, Arod, Palmiero, and perhaps one or two of the other recents, in addition to the typical 11.  the newer signatures were all legit, but they were added to one of those mass produced forgeries, where the killebrew is illegible, and the rest are almost as bad.

absolutely LM...I came across this image from a youtube video tribute and although the ends of the autos are cut off this a PERFECT example of this happening...I feel no question the Richardson is good since I have acquired his autograph many times and no doubt the MANTLE and FORD where added later with the same marker with the same hand....I never got a Mantle in person but know with out a shadow of a doubt that's bad and got Ford also many times as well and know that's no question fake as well so it is no question possible and happens quite often and they often stick out like a sore thumb like this one does...besides when you think about it Richardson although a great player really has no demand to be forged and is still alive and well...and as you can see signed fast and not sloooowly drawn like the other horrific Mantle and Ford fakes even in this bad picture...it happens quite a lot and I just stumbled across this image in a video

Heres an authentic Richardson to compare

I don't suppose this is how the "cut" signature continues to evolve out of the autograph album stages??  There are only so many albums that could have possibly been autographed, but with forgers crapping on authentic vintage pieces-not just the autographs but many of the vintage pieces containing the genuine signatures--its's no wonder people are cutting autos out (or at leasting claiming they're cut??--by the handfuls and posting them on ebay or other auction sites...this kind of crap drives me crazy....Forgers are just like hackers..they have way too much time on their hands and love to figure out ways to be destructive to others' property because they can't have it..they're all really no better than  common thieves///OKAY that's enough from me..sorry about that...would you like to know how I really feel??
