Questions On Music items from UK dealer
Garry King is well liked by some but I see a big problem with some of the items I see on his site. I'm not referring to Kenny Baker and other small bits but rather the large $$ music items.
Dealers in the UK might not be aware of current music item that they offer for sale. In another thread several autographs from Autografica were deemed fake. The items were Clint Eastwood, Charlton Heston and Harrison Ford.
He might not know there is a problem.

That would be my view. However, the problem I see here is someone is right & someone is wrong. We can soft soap it anyway one likes but
either Epperson is on target and Aring is a lying -or- Aring is correct and Epperson misfired. Because of the presumed indepth anyalsis that was done it stands to reason that Epperson made his call and Cyrkin went with it.
We have also seen cases here a number of times when something is called good but will be retracted and sometimes years later as we saw with a 1997 hendrix or a babe ruth ball recently.
If it is still deemed a non-authentic piece then we will have to draw on our conclusions. We have also had reports here of "more trustworthy" posters indicating an item they had obtained in person had been failed by either PSA or JSA. Then again, those are more "commercialized" TPAs and not focused specialists.

We built the cover the Thriller album was used on just days after Michael Jackson died. When Roger looked at the autograph and told me it was a forgery, I didn't know much about MJ. But as we started researching and writing the article, looking at hundreds of Michael Jackson autographs good and bad, it became easy to tell that it wasn't real.
Among other things, comparing it to genuine Michael Jacksons, you'll notice that the small letters are just squiggles...and especially uniform in "Jackson." There's no attempt at actually forming the small letters, which there would be if someone was signing their name. Compare that to the genuine ones in our Michael Jackson feature and I think you'll see what I mean:

But the best thing to do is ask specialists who know Jackson well. I think you'll have a hard time finding ones who think it's real.

From what I can see the signatures posted in this discussion can be placed into three separate groups. The first contains the ones that were being sold by Autografica on eBay. The second contains the pickguards that Roger posted. The third contains Mike’s Thriller album and Travis’ photo, both of which appear to be very similar to my untrained eye. What seems to set the three groups apart the most is the loop in the “J”. It is also interesting to see how much some of the signatures on the pickguards vary considering that they were signed at the same time. In some cases it may simply be due to Michael trying to fit his signature into different sized spaces. Anyway those are my amateur observations and I can certainly appreciate how difficult it must be to make sense of it all.

Sorry everyone, I misunderstood my conversation I had with Mike Aring and he let me know about it today. Instead of trying to put it into my own words I will just post what he said in his message to me. I think from here on out I'm just gonna wait until Mike gets "un-suspended" so he can put his statements into his own words.
hey travis... i saw your posting about the michael jackson and adrian. i think you stated me wrong though. i actually said that i followed jackson around for the last year of his life. I NEVER SAW ADRIAN ONCE. not following jackson around anyway. i saw adrian a lot... but not for the last two years i was in l.a. i've been in ohio nearly 3 years now. so that means i haven't seen him in 5 years. but i found it in the note that i sent you where i said i didn't see adrian in 3 years. i NEVER saw him getting jackson.
sure, there were times i wasn't there to follow michael around. days at a time even. i didn't go everyday, i had to make money, work and play with my newborn baby. and we moved in that span of time as well. so there were lots of days that i wasn't there. but i never once saw adrian, not even doing the other hollywood stuff, so unless he was just going for jackson the days i wasn't, he wasn't in l.a. at all.
as for my michael jackson record, the one they are talking about.. i still have it. i watched him sign it with my own two eyes. i'm not even willing to sell it. i framed it, it's on my wall at home. you can post that all if you want to. but i don't like it banged around that my album came from adrian (which is what has been iterated ever since you said i saw adrian getting jackson.)... but i NEVER saw adrian out getting michael. not once, not ever. i saw adrian getting autographs in l.a. and new york. but never once jackson.

The AFTAL Board have read with great interest comments made on this forum regarding AFTAL members and the AFTAL organisation. We refute any accusations made concerning all AFTAL Dealers.
AFTAL does not recognise the status or credibility of the detractors of AFTAL on this forum.
Since the AFTAL organisation was formed the UK memorabilia market is a much safer place.
In regards to the Michael Jackson autographs, the AFTAL board have reviewed photographic and dvd proof that gives conclusive evidence that the allegations you have made against Adrian are unfounded and completely without question untrue.
Our conclusion is that the Michael Jackson autographs in question are 100% authentic.
Anyone wishing to see the photographic and video proof are welcome to attend the Autographica show on the 13th/14th October 2012 at the NEC Birmingham UK, where it will be available for you to view.

Cant the photographic and dvd proof for the MJ's be posted here for all to view? Id have thought this would be the bare minimum for AFTAL as an organisation to retain any credability!
Is that also the case for the Eastwood and Ford signed items?
